General TV Show / Film Discussion Thread

I recently started watching X-Files, that I never watched as a kid/teenager. I've seen like 18 episodes so far, it's quite nice.
I'm also watching Just Shoot Me, which is... meh. Pretty uneven. Some episodes are nice and funny, and some others are really boring and uninteresting.

Was good for 2-3 seasons but considerably dropped after that. Starting season 5, it became just a guest show-off. They put 4-5-6 guests per episode to have the crowd go "WOOOOOOO" but they have no story, nothing funny. And in the end, the guests are useless since they have a couple of minutes of screen-time.

I've started watching Big Mouth on Netflix, a delightfully raunchy animated series. If you're looking for a completely inappropriate yet funny take on the awkwardness of teen hormones, this is for you.
bruh adventure time just ended how is nobody talking about this

I watched the show ever since the first episode aired and fuck this hit me with the big sad, but I guess all good things must come to an end
I recall absolutely despising that show when it first started, but it grew on me a little after a few years. By that point however I was like 14 or 15 and way too old for a show like that and sort of moved on.

I'm actually kind of surprised how many of my friends texted me about how upset they were about it ending the other week. Honestly it was news to me that the show was even still going on at all, let alone just ending now. Ah well.

Did anyone catch Better Call Saul's season 4 finale last night? What a closer!

Spoiler includes, well, spoilers.

Werner's final phone call to his wife was so heavy. The way he yells at her to go home and that he doesn't want to see her was absolutely shattering, especially because of the fate he meets directly afterwards.

Jimmy's speech to the board at the end is a highlight as well and Kim realizing what kind of monster she has helped create. That last shot was so powerful!

This show has only gotten better with each season and the last line of the episode has me very excited for the next.
Do any of you guys watch The Walking Dead?

I'm surprised there isn't a lot of conversation on that, it's gotten so much better lately.

What with Scott Gimple stepping down and Angela Kang taking over.

The Walking Dead, in my opinion, is an overrated show that involves the same thing episode after episode.

Have never nor do I now have any interest in watching it. And that goes for the vast majority of zombie apocalypse based media.

That's quite an affirmation for someone who doesn't nor has ever had any interest in watching it. #w{=D}

I just finished The Haunting Of Hill House, really good, really enjoyed it.
I also finished Mindhunter. Always interesting as someone interested in serial killers, but sometimes a bit slow (and some other times, too fast when they need something)
And Sex Education, really liked it too.

Recently wathced season 2 of Marvel's The Punisher on Netflix and it was super good but I've gotta say
I'm not a huge fan of the teenage chick that's involved the entire season. I know she's entirely necessary for the plot, but God she's so cringy and preachy in some areas. The directors don't even attempt to hide the glam shots and 30 second beauty film rolls they give her in the middle of the episodes that are usually filled with death and shooting and all the matter of sin. It's just all felt out of place.

All that aside, I'm fucking SAD that it was canceled along with all the other Marvel Netflix series. I'm just really hoping that Hulu takes it up and they keep the same cast. Because Jon Bernthal is an AMAZING Frank Castle.

I'm telling you all right now that you have to watch The Boys on Amazon Prime. Period.

I was a little skeptical at first of going into yet another "superhero" franchise since they've been absolutely dominating modern media lately, but this one genuinely hooked me in incredibly well and I won't say too much about its plot because there's a lot of surprise and intrigue involved right off the bat, but what I will say is that I ended up watching the entire first series in a couple of days after it was released, which is rare for me. What's even more rare for me is the fact that I just needed more of it after it ended.

I'm definitely going to be right on top of it when the next season comes out.
