Super Smash Bros Ultimate on Nintendo Switch

LINK

For the lazy...

Side note: To clarify, I never said whether it was a sequel or a port. I only said they’ve been preparing an announcement for a Smash Bros title on Switch. I don’t know whether it’s a sequel or a deluxe definitive port.

What do you think about this?
Is it fake news?

Edit: Is it for 2018?
no

e: emily rogers is a reliable source actually but i think it'd be too early for a new smash game since the smash 4 community is still very active

Not really a huge argument against a new Smash Bros., since it's not like Nintendo is making any money from an active Smash 4 community. A new (or even a ported) game on the Switch, however, would be another system seller.

Really? What do you think about the rumor where (s)he said that you can play Male / Female Link in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild?
She is only passing on things that she has heard from her sources, so there's bound to be a few incorrect rumors in there. That's why they're called "rumors" and not "facts".

What "sources" you're talking about?
I don't know who her sources are and I don't really care too much, but since I'm working as a game developer myself, there are a few things I get to learn about before other people do, and I've observed her reporting correctly on these things a couple of times already (before they were public knowledge). For example: she was one of the few people who correctly reported the Switch's GPU being NVIDIA-based from the very beginning - at a time when most other people claimed (and were convinced) that it was actually AMD-based. As a developer, I already knew the GPU was NVIDIA-based back then, so I knew she had some reliable sources somewhere. This isn't too surprising since she's currently working as a game developer herself. If I remember correctly, she also used to work for Nintendo at some point, so it's not too unreasonable to think that she personally knows some of the people there. People just get too hung up on the few instaces where her rumors end up not becoming true (or at least seemingly though) and take that as a basis to claim that she didn't have any reliable sources and that she was just making things up. That's a very unreasonable thing to claim, though, since more of her rumors turned out true than turned out false. I mean, she was one of the first people (if not THE first) to report on a Mario x Rabbids crossover being in development, and you couldn't even come up with something like that if you wanted to, so there's no way she just took a wild guess. She clearly had some reliable sources who told her about it.

I yelled a the top of my lungs "SMASH BROTHERS!? THIS YEAR!?"
Expect little to nothing from me for now.

Player graphics are the only thing I do right, so come tell me to make one you want.

Go to my profile for more trash of mine.
The only thing other than getting excited that was on my mind was the development time.

64: 1999
Melee: 2001
Brawl: 2008
Sm4sh: 2014

So the gaps we have had are:

2 years / 6 years / 6 years / 4 years /

The gap between Sm4sh and the current one is only 4 years which is not the longest nor shortest gap between a new release.

I think they'll take the engine of the previous one and add to it either with tweaks or changed/altered characters with the addition of new ones thrown in there as well so it is not just a port.
Im pretty sure its a port.

This BETTER be an all new 5th game and NOT a port of Super Smash Bros. 4 or I am going to be really mad! I'm SICK and TIRED of Nintendo making enhanced ports of Wii U games on the Nintendo Switch! Nintendo is INSULTING and RIPPING OFF Wii U owners! I paid a lot of money for my Wii U games! I don't want to have to buy these games TWICE! Why can't there be a system in place where if you own the Wii U version of a game, you get a discount on the Nintendo Switch version?

I would personally not mind a Wii U port. The game is mighty fine and balanced. A new game would risk dropping that balance and even some of the newcomers introduced in the last game (much like Snake and the Ice Climbers were lost). But would appreciate added content, of course.

I cannot believe it will come out this year. I'd be pretty surprised if it was, but so far Nintendo has delivered with the release dates. Even Xenoblade 2 made it on time. E3 is going to be wild.
I do hope this Nintendo Switch Smash Bros has Adventure Mode, the Chronicle, and other features that were in Brawl but were removed for the 4th game. Compared to Brawl, I've always felt that Super Smash Bros. 4 was incomplete and missing some features.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think every game up to Brawl has taken all of the features from the last game and revamped them and added new features. To my knowledge, I think Super Smash Bros. 4 was the first game to start removing features that were in previous games. One core feature was Adventure Mode. Another was the Chronicle, which I really like, for some reason. I never cared that much about Tourney Mode, Rotation Mode, and stickers, but it still would have been nice to have them. I also like Brawl's Classic Mode better than Super Smash Bros. 4's. Brawl's Classic Mode feels more "classic" than Super Smash Bros. 4's. Smash Run feels closest to Adventure Mode, but it's not the same. It's not perfect, either. I wish you could beat up opponents and steal their stat boosts and such in the first phase. (The second phase is the final battle.) Super Smash Bros. 4 also introduces some features that just seem unneeded and aren't good, such as Smash Tour and Trophy Rush.

Super Smash Bros. 4 also feels much more competitive than previous games, and I'm a casual gamer and don't like to be the best. You're penalized harshly for losing Super Smash Bros. 4's in Classic Mode, and, in Brawl, you can just get right back up and continue with no penalty.

I still like Super Smash Bros. Brawl the best. I just like how it's so casual. It doesn't have that competitive feel that Super Smash Bros. 4 has. And it has a HUGE Adventure Mode. Not to mention, the game has a HUGE modding community, and that REALLY keeps me playing Brawl. One thing I like doing is playing through the Subspace Emissary using modded characters.

TLDR: Super Smash Bros. 4 feels incomplete. If this Super Smash Bros. game on Nintendo Switch adds back features like Adventure Mode and completes the incomplete Super Smash Bros. 4, then maybe I'll be happy and not be mad at Nintendo for ripping me off if it's a port.

This is my sentiments so much.
I've heard that there actually was a program like that in regards to MK8.

Smash switch will hopefully be a massive improvement. One idea I favor is having two selectable physics engines so that both casual and competitive have their own homes.
Please pardon the eye.

This, mostly so the Melee elitists can stop screeching murder for every casual addition they make.

Anyway, i'd love a Melee remake with more characters and features, almost like Project M. I can't get that hack here in Europe so I would like some kind of redemption for it. It saves me from getting a GameCube/all the Wii bs for a single game.

A Teaser for a port would be pointless, it also said at the bottom '2018' and not '2014-2018'

That was just the release date, not the copyright date. They're not to be confused.
