yes, this was made from scratch. I have no idea what the starsw one is like, so I wouldn't know.
To be honest. This is looks 100% the same as the STARSW one. One block to move Mario down and the other to finish the level. The block itself is not the midway point graphics though, but either in front or behind of them, if I'm not wrong.
Can people please post links to a video instead of the video itself? My computer can't take it when a bunch of videos are posted, like on page 10, and I'm forced to restart my computer.

Great minds think alike :P

I also started to have difficulties with those videos, so I edited out ALL the video embeds into hyperlinks in this thread.

Yes, this means there is a new rule: Do not embed videos in this thread. Link them instead.

(This rule only applies in this thread)
My blog. I could post stuff now and then

My Assembly for the SNES tutorial (it's actually finished now!)

Thanks! Does this rule apply to all forums now?
No, only to this thread... >.>

EDIT: Video removed because of dead link.

I already showed this in IRC and might as well do it here, too. A color changing gradient. D:
Custom Timer + Best Time System!

Yup, I finally got it working, with a bit of help from Azure on usage of certain opcodes. ;) No, I will not release it. As the description states, there's two problems:

1: The best time saves when it's set, even if you refuse to save the game. I honestly have no idea how to fix this.
2: The best time for a level is shared between all files. I have no idea what parts of SRAM are file-specific, if any.

If anyone knows the answer to either of these questions, I would greatly appreciate it if you'd PM me the answers you have. :)

Now, enjoy.

Well, I guess I'm sorry if it looks alike? I would have made it one block, but I dont know how to check if mario is touching the ground or not. I'm still in the process of fixing a minor glitch. If you want to view the code, at my testing page:
Tester's Page
Could someone also link me this so called STARSW? I would like to see the method used in it.
I forgot the link but comparing the code proves that you coded it from scratch. :P

Either way, here comes the windowing spotlight. :3

EDIT: Images removed because of dead links.

It's not done yet though. It has the same color as the background and some pixels needs to be fixed to make it a proper circle. :x
AAAAAAAAAAAA I wanna know how to do that! D: D: D:
It looks pretty sweet.

Ice Man, you are indeed a master of HDMA! I didn't know there was a flagpole in STARSW though.
Thanks, but this one even pwns more.

Iceman, could you perhaps help me with scrolling HDMA? Send me a PM if you are willing to help.
DEAR FEAR MY ASSEMBLY SKILLS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCVtba_TxJw

This is more like a Semi-Powerup engine, all activated by pressing L. It is set to "No-Skill" in default. And you can carry your current powerup through levels too. The star counter is the "MP".
Potions:
1st one: Invincibility
2nd one: Yoshi Fireballs
3rd one: Star Power
4th one: "Crush"
Blue potions: "MP Potions"
Yes, I actually can code sprites, but not complicated ones! :D
