As we all know, SMW has only Layer 1,2,3 and Sprites, right?
I've accidently messed up some code for my HDMA effects and somehow enabled Layer 4. o_O

Yes, it is glitched as hell, but it is possible to use Layer 4 somehow, eventhough I have no clue how. :P
Not all ames use layer 4.
Here are some game: SMW2YI, StarFox, Vortex, Gundam Wing Endless Duel, etc. Now SMW has layer 4? You should post a video showing that you disabled layer 4 for that messed BG.
It was caused by an accident, yes. Also, recording the video is useless because ZSNES does not record when I disable the layers.

stop getting silly with layer 4, using it force all other layer to 2bpp, since LM will alway assume the GFX to be 4bpp, your level GFX will ALL be glitched in the level, that why using layer 4 is mostly worthless(and also why almost no game use it)
Yea, I know Bio. I won't mess around with Layer 4 anyway. It was just produced by some failed coding. :P

Meet my custom enemy, Gearhead. Isn't it cute? Currently, he just moves left and right in the air, but there's a few problems:

1: When it hits a solid object, it tries to go into the object, then MAYBE bounces off it. Sometimes, it just gets stuck there. No idea how to fix it.
2: This picture explains it enough:


Yup. Its body won't appear when it faces left. No matter how much I look at my code, absolutely nothing seems to be the problem. I posted the code in the ASM help thread, so I'm just waiting for someone to help me with this. But uh... Yeah.

Here's my future plans for this sprite:
-Make it bob up and down while moving horizontally.
-Make another sprite rotate around it while it moves (may be impossible without extreme hacking, no idea)

Comments? ...help? I'd appreciate both. D:

Not bad, unfortunately I can't help you with sprites. :P

Anyway, yesterday I decided to mess around with layer 3 again and I have now a 172x512 sized layer 3 BG/FG which scrolls. :)

I thought the Layer 3 BG scrolls itself. Nice job, Ice Man!
Thanks. Also, layer 3 does not scroll on its own, except the mist.
Anyway, shaded status bar ftw.
