Super Mario: Other World - dead

I haven't posted anything in a while, so I think it's time for an
Update my boyz.

Rock Candy Cave 3: Wishwash Cavern
Song that plays: Out to Sea

This level uses a layer 2 tide, that rises and falls. I might add more decorations, because it's looking a bit empty right now

Rock Candy Cave 4: Dripdrop Sewer
Song that plays: Reaper Prison

This stage...has a lot of pipes. Some pour water, some have Piranha Plants living in them, and others do nothing. This stage also introduces moving pipes. So that's nice.

Rock Candy Cave 5: Ruby Ravine
Song that plays: Kirby's Return to Dreamland - Over the Hills

This stage mostly uses moving chain platforms and falling platforms. It also introduces Blue Parakoopas, a custom enemy that flies in a clockwise circle.

Rock Candy Cave 6: (currently unnamed)
Song that plays: King of the Mountains

This stage introduces mushroom platforms, and by extension, bouncy mushrooms. And it also introduces bomb/rock throwing moles.

Now, all that's left to do is finish the castle and bonus stage, then I can perhaps redo Ice Cream Tundra.

I have some negative thoughts about the backgrounds. They should have more contrast with foreground so the colors don't blend with themselves. It isn't that particular in the first and the last level, but still. Nevertheless, keep up the good job!

Basically, I believe in peace and bashing two bricks together.

I don't have a lot to say about these screenshots, and that's a good thing. The design looks very nice and in working order.
I´m afraid, I have to criticise your palettes again. "Rock Candy Cave 3: Wishwash Cavern" and "Rock Candy Cave 5: Ruby Ravine" are very monochromatic. Currently the Background and the Foreground blend into each other a lot.

Again making the Background darker should be a step in the right direction, though you should consider to change the colours per se as well? I think for "Rock Candy Cave 3: Wishwash Cavern" an almost black BG could be fitting and for "Rock Candy Cave 5: Ruby Ravine" a red Layer-2-BG would be a good decision (since rubies are usually red and not purple #tb{:p}).

It´s up to you to find a pleasant colouring, but I really recommend you to experiment a lot. Really good palettes aren´t done within 5 minutes.

Apart from that the other 2 levels look quite decent #tb{;)}

These are screenshots from the Rock Candy Cave castle. Thing is, I'm not too sure how to make this castle feel unique or cave-like, so I've been stuck on this level for well over a week and not much has been changed within the timespan I've started working on it...I might just scrap the whole thing and start over, but I'm not sure.

The blocks with arrows are Extending Blocks. Hitting them makes it grow a block in the direction the arrow is pointing, and it grows up to 3 blocks. I wanted this to be the main gimmick of the castle, but Mario gets hurt when hitting them from below for some reason so they're reduced to being hit with throw blocks or with the cape powerup.

Looks nice, but the light is way too brigth.
The light effect looks better if it doesn't tear your eyes apart, try to go for something brownish (that is at least the thing I always do)

Keep up the good work!

Currently working on:
Project C

Finished project:
I've decided to stick with the castle, and now it's pretty much finished.

Rock Candy Cave castle: (currently unnamed)
Song that plays: The Sinking Ship

The first half is pretty basic. Has falling platforms and moving castle bricks.

The second half introduces snake blocks. The arrows show which direction the snake blocks are going to go.

And since World 2 is just about finished aside from the secret stage, I thought I'd begin remaking world 3, which is still an ice/lava world, by the way

As you can tell, I haven't began working on the actual level yet. I'm kind of just messing around with the palettes here, thoughts?
Also, I've made a new userbar, as shown in my sig. So, use that if you want to support this hack or whatever, I guess

I think you should make arrows use diffrent colors to make them stand out more.

I see you didn't started working on BG palette, but FG looks ok.

Ice Cream Tundra 2: Snowstorm at Sunrise
Song that plays: Cloudy Beach

The second stage of world 3. Mostly consists of lava pits with floating platforms, and 'tunnel' sections with rows of icicles--some of which fall when Mario is near, as shown in screen 3. This stage also introduces Flame Chomps.

Ice Cream Tundra 1: Sno'key Snowfields
Song that plays: Stars and Rainbows

The first half is pretty basic. And you jump over a lot of Sno'keys.

The second half uses snake blocks.
...And jumping over more Sno'keys.

I've also updated the title screen slightly

Have you just decided to use SMB1 trees and SMB3 bushes? Everything looks quite good as for now. Hope to see the next worlds.

The level looks well designed, especially the 2nd half with the snake blocks sounds interesting. The decorations also are pretty neat and the snow-effect you used is decent. By only judging the screenshots I cannot think of anything that could be improved here.

Looks like a really well done level #smw{:TUP:}

This is why I wish I had a way of recording my gameplay
But thanks, both of you.

You can use an emulator to record your videos and use a codec to capture them. A video file will be saved in .avi format. BTW, what emulator do you use?

I use Snes9x. I've tried recording with that, but then the video is split into multiple parts and I don't have any software to merge them all back into one video again

I know how to download and use software. It's just all of the ones I've found either put a watermark on the finished video or aren't free.

Updated the Ice Cream Tundra submap.

And you mean Windows Movie Maker, right? I forgot all about that, I'll go ahead and try that out.
