SMWC's Monthly Gaming Get-together! - July 2017 - SMW Randomizer Speedrun

JSYK, voting for the next game IS already open. The date and time for the next event isn't decided yet, but feel free to suggest for that too.
another month another vote

surely this time smash 4 will take it!

i vote smash 4 wiiu and mario kart 8 deluxe tourny

I suggest doing it some late month weekend.

edit: clear up that its smash4 for Wii U and not 3DS
Super Smash Bros 3DS for shits 'n giggles.
I would support Mega Maker but I have no idea how we could turn it into a contest without judges, so SSB4 Wii U.
*everything stops*
Yeah, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got into this situation...

I also vote for Sm4sh and MK8 Deluxe. Can be either 3DS or Wii U since I have both (although said Wii U is dusty as hell right now #tb{¬_¬})

A Mega Maker contest would be interesting, but I feel like the game doesn't have enough content for really interesting levels to be made.

Does smash have a built in replay uploader? If not I can grab those as well if necessary.

It does, but it is limited to 3 minute matches at maximum, if not, then the video is just turned into a highlight reel of sorts.
So, with only 4 votes, and a tie between Smash 4 3ds and Wii U, not to mention the low turnout we've had every month (about 8 people per event, tops), it seems like it's probably not worth continuing to run this event and provide prizes to such a small number of entrants.

Unless people are interested in somehow restructuring the event, or more interest suddenly spikes, this event will be shelved for the foreseeable future.

Maybe it should be bi-monthly or something? I think the problem is that due to how infrequently this happens, there's next-to-no interest in it.

I would participate in these events if I had the money to afford what these events are hosting. I'm pretty sure it might be the same for most other people, not everybody can get a Switch or even an old console when they have to save up for bills or invest in a car. And for those that aren't making their own money, parents most likely will not get them the things they need to participate.

The monthly gaming event is a good idea, if it's not what I said that's the problem, then it's a PR issue in which case I'd say "advertisements are not strong enough".
Yeah I do agree the lack of advertisement of the events are a problem. I'd say that starting each month instead of editing this thread a new one should be made, allowing for a new poll to be made to give more exposure to the event. I see no reason to keeping this thread. Also the title is still July 2017 even though we're halfway through August
and there was no mention of the gaming get-together on the SMWC twitter #smrpg{roar}

Or maybe the event shouldn't be up to the community to pick and we should simply have a rotation of games each month so it is more organized and easier to anticipate?

I also think that there should be a reward for the winner (winners?) for each month. A trophy in their profile and/or a color name for the month would be nice. That should get more people to participate.
I have an idea of how the get together would work Mario Kart wise. We could host a community for MK7 and tourney for MK8 and MK8 Deluxe and then there should be a few hours of racing every week or biweekly for the latter of those and at will for the first. That could also work with Tourney mode on SSBU. I can host and organise MK7 and MK8 just fine.
Sorta dumb question here but, is this contest for SMWC members only?
You have to have a SMWC account to get onto our Discord, where the chat for it is, so sorta yea. You could just have people sign up on the site just for the event though, nobody would mind.

If it's gonna keep being a thing, that is.
