SUPERwave Mixes >> A *New Experimental Genre of SNES Music (Request Thread??)

*New, as in not really new, as Earthbound and Undertale was the original
inspiration of this experimental genre I'm tackling. Still, how I'm doing things,
I think I'm pulling off something "unique" for what kind of music I'm composing.

Welcome to a project I've started only a few months ago, where it all started
when I was researching on some of Earthbound's samples and noticed just how neat
some of their songs are. No, not just unique in terms of the music, but how they
got some of the instruments for songs such as "Moonside", "The Place", "Boris
Cocktail", and such. To all who don't know, these songs take samples from actual
songs created by music artists (most notably The Little Rascals Theme, Deirdre,
and so fourth.) I decided to try a little experiment and compose a song using
mostly samples from other artists. Here is my result!

SUPERwave (!Mix#1!) - Ever Crossing the Bastille Battlefield

All songs used:
Attack on Titan - Feuerriter Pfeil und Bogen
LiSA - Crossing Field (aka SAO Opening)
Bastille - Pompeii
Nightwish - Ever Dream
Baby Bash - Baby I'm Back (Clap Symbal)
Rammstein - Du Hast (Kick)
Only 1 sample is from another source

As you can see, I had an interesting start with trying to find samples that
actually worked to my favor, and judging from a few, I think they turned out...
okay. Not perfect, but not shit either (unless it is, which uh... I know you've
seen worse from me.) So I decided to take the opportunity to open this thread as
a "requesting thread". Basically, what I'm asking is...

What 3-4 songs do you want me to try to piece together?

There are a few general rules to follow: 1) No more than one request (4 songs) pur person.
2) Try not to use Video Game themed-music, unless it's clearly styled
as such (Guitar Hero/Rock Band, and most songs with lyrics are the safest bets.)
3) Don't specifically tell me what part of the song you want me to do. The point
of SUPERwave is to select a bit that suits best with the other samples.
4) If possible, find out what the tempo (BPM) is for each song. 5) *sigh* Yes,
I will accept meme songs, but don't go crazy. 6) I have every right to say no
or yes to the request for any reason. 7) Remixes and Parodies are allowed.

Due to how short C3 is about to end, I will only accept the first 10 people, and
I will post my thoughts about each requests within' 6 days. Most likely I will
complete 4-7 requests depending on how good/funny/interesting they are. I
probably won't finish them all by the time C3 closes, but I will post them in my
thread in the Music Forum, and maybe even release them to SMW Central.

Well, this is Daizo Dee Von, and it's never a good bye, it's always a "See you later!"

DISCLAIMER: To any music artists, yes, you are allowed to create
your own SUPERwave music. I'm only the innovator of this idea, and I am curious as
to what y'all can do using actual songs as instruments. After all, Torchkas' "Can
You Feel" song from VLDC9 is a really impressive remix that, too, inspired me to
create this genre. SUPERwave is all about using the quantity of songs to create
quality soundtracks on the SNES.
ok.. I took classic rock songs..
1. Pink flyod-dark side of the moon.
2. The doors- L.A. Woman
3. Gordon Lightfoot- the wreck of edmund fitzgerald.
4. Supertramp-the logical song.
I think you find some good samples in these songs.
I'd like you to have fun with these:

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Black Moon (157 bpm)
The Doors - The End (106bpm)
Genesis - The Cinema Show (134bpm)
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (127bpm)

Please tell us you'll release the MMLs you'll make for that awesome new genre.
Knock yourself out with these sample sources:

1. The Simpsons Season 1 Theme (It counts if I suggest a specific song from a compilation of various versions of the theme, instead of a specific part of a song, right?)
2. "Breakout" by Swing-Out Sister
3. "So Dumb (Homer's Lament)" by Dan Castellaneta (Song has a framing device where Homer rents a recording studio to Krusty's inconvenience and Barney tries to bootleg the song, but I added some perimeters to the link so that only the song itself can be heard)
4. "Strange Neightbors" from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

Yes, I know half of these sample suggestions are Simpsons-related. Can you blame me?
Your layout has been removed.
Here are my four songs:
- Sleepyhead by Passion Pit
- Rock your Body rock by Ferry Corsten
- Mellow Out by In the blue shirt
- Fireflies by Owl City

Note: I didn't read your full post before and only specified one song. I thought that you would make a song out of 4 requests or something. I deleted the old post. These 4 are my final decision. In case you already started or something i'm really sorry for being such a troublesome...

Aight then, here are my requests:

X, from Blue Exorcist

Lightning Flame Dragon Roar, from Fairy Tail

Sono Chi No Sadame, from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood

gravityWall, from Re:Creators

There should be some pretty fun samples to use here, especially the accordion and brass from JoJo and Fairy Tail's themes, so that's why I included those anyway.

Also, I'm legitmtately curious rn, but what have you done to isolate the audio to sample these instruments? IIRC, you wouldnt be able to sample sonething without isolating the audio in some way, because then the other instruments would get in the way, and I wanted to know this to improve my sampling skills, so

I had almost chose those doors and pink flyod song too.
Well hey, I'm back! Welp, better start listening to every song.

**A few hours later**

Wow... there's a lot of long songs. I've basically decided that, since there are 7 requestees, I'm going to just do these seven and hopefully get one done before C3 initially ends... Basically this means requests are now closed. I'll answer the little comments now.

I mean, if you're saying you made a bad choice by representing your love for the Simpsons, then I don't know what world I'm in.

Well... I don't for a lot of them. I actually either choose parts where there isn't much going on, or (for the case of Attack on Titan) I just rip the sample and randomly try it out. For the case of Rammstein's Du Hast, I found the stems for it (where all the tracks are seperated), but this only works for songs that are previously from the Guitar Hero-styled games. I also use instrumentals as well, but again, only when they're available (and I try my hardest not to go for them).

Don't worry about it, I didn't start yet.

They are pretty big in size (and isn't meant for SMW use), but I suppose I can provide all the SPCs and MMLs.

Stay tuned for more.
