hi i have like jack shit to show off really but i didnt wanna be outta the whole fun experience so i decided to quickly rip a bunch of gfx from kirby mass attack. ive never played this game before but it has some nice tilesets that were annoying to translate into snes standards, but i'm sure some folks can get some use out of them:
kirby mass attack random sand stuff:
ignore the fact that the sand is just water - just use custom quicksand blocks w/ it obviously.
this beach:
keep in mind the upside down underwater slopes dont have water physics cos the original smw never had them. if you wanna use them properly you would have to use custom blocks i'm pretty sure. or layer 2 behind it. either way i included it cos i had the space and they dont destroy the world to have - you can just kinda awkwardly jump into them and get water splash effects.
ghost boy:
this one is wild they have like lil roots n shit.
candy land pt 2:
this one uses like 500 palette rows and im less satisfied w/ it but it could definitely still be useful for stuff
all these just use 1 layer, i just got rid of the bgs for most of them. i mightve fufcked up the map16 somewhere who knows. also ill submit them 2 the site later. they might also be hard to get looking good sometimes (esp the sand one with how it works), but im sure yall can figure it out.
anyway u can download them all here: [1] [2] [3] [4]
anyways ive been working on a hack!! at a fucking snails pace!! but i wanted to make something kinda fun and hopefully different from a lot of other hacks. this hack isnt titled atm but here's a few gifs of things!:
a grass level!
the first level i had worked on! i just wanted to play around with some gfx mixing. i know everything isn't totally consistent (ex. the player, some sprites), but i personally don't mind a ton. i really like the flying spiny sprites, they're fun enemies to dodge. this level originally had a lot of fuzzies, and it may still be updated in the future to include them. you can collect a springboard to get that star coin and explore above the level as well.
a desert level!
ignore the lack of hdma - i was lazy lmao. this was originally gonna be the first level i think, but looking back it might be too hard for 1-1 lmaoo. the lines in the sand actually come from gamma v's yi desert tileset - this one. i planned to merge it with other yi gfx like i have done with all my other tilesets... and things soon spun outta control. i ended up just revamping the wasteland gfx, mixing it with her lines, and pulling the quicksand from yoshi's island ds (which have been pointed out that they look odd without lines at the top - i might see if i can do something about that l8r, but its' how it looked in the original game). at this point tho yeah i'll prolly redraw the lines in the sand since i ended up using so little of her tileset to begin with, unless she doesn't mind me using them or something
anyway about the level!! the quicksand is Murder (which is probably another good reason why this isnt the first level anymore), and i wanted to play around with moles. there are other types of moles in this level later on also.
a desert castle!
the whomp sprite is really cute. also multilayered thwimps are my dad irl. i havent done much with this level yet but i'm finding it fun! (also i know my use of kaizo hurt blocks will be controversial cos some ppl find them ugly lmao)
a snow level!
where this will fit who knows - though probably earlier than later (before desert world??). this also shows one of the things i'm using for this hack - the multiple powerups patch. i've also given daisy some custom gfx for the ice flower, so she gets to enjoy having a little dress-parka-thing. also dino rhinos are weird as hell and i wanna play around with them cos theyre weird as hell. you can see a full playthrough of the first part of this in this gifv
this hack is segmented, as you may have noticed by the many doors. it's almost kirby inspired, in that you save at the beginning of each room, and if you die you are given a reset prompt (i'm not using worldpeace's version tho), it's more like this. you can also backtrack most of the time, since most pipes and doors are two ways. its basically just this mess of yoshi's island meets smb3 meets kirby. starring daisy!! i might also redraw daisy or something since im not sure how much im in love with this one on smwcentral, but that requires effort.
anyways yes thank you hopefully ill make a thread sooner than later for this shit (and more hopefully it'll actually get some more work done on it someday). hope u enjoy the graphics tho
