So is there any update on how chocolate-y this hack is gonna be? I will finally start working on it as well after i'm done with the level i'm building in my hack if this is still vanilla.
We are going to finish the way we started with the original rules that made people interested in the first place. In short all vanilla with out changing level settings :)

The only thing different then straight vanilla is we will use lui37's advanced hack as the base. It's in the full hack forum section. It has some features of the gba version. Check his thread if you like to see the features he added, plus if you like to make use of them.
Could you link me to that thread perhaps? I'm unsure if I would use that.

If it's really make or break we don't have to use it. I should make it known we are still making our levels in the vanilla rom in case the advanced version changed any level settings. We would just insert the levels into the advanced version.

I thought you wouldn't mind the extra features. There is one issue I just noticed. Some level settings have been changed because some areas never had dragon coins now do, However I don't believe this effects anyone's work already done. But it definitely means we need to use the advanced version as the base. I'll leave it open to discuss. However you can still make your level with the vanilla rom I'll fix anything if needed
ok, I finally started 122, It uses the 3 turnblock wing platforms and fast bg scroll like the original. I don't have screen shots, I'm still experimenting with these sprites. I forgot they even exsisted.
This project isn't dead, finally 122 is done.. It's a very basic level. It utilizes the winged turn blocks like original. This time it has bullet bills, and plenty of cement.






There is a few hoops to jump, and you get to play limbo with the cement. Those bullet bills, always have bad timing. Because there is two turn block platforms, you get two pathways to follow.
The level isn't bad. I like your idea with Bullet Bills and cement blocks. So vanilla!

Also, it was just 3 days so don't say anything like that, unless it was forever since the last post.

The next level I will make is the one for the collab. Haven't got around to starting it yet through confidence issues and a bit of fatigue but I don't think you'll have to wait for an insane amount of time.
I'm sure what ever you make will work good.
I'll probably be done Saturday or Sunday, if not I'll try to get it done sometime early July.
