btw I released a video showing off the third stage in World 2. In case anyone missed it in the Screenshots and Videos thread.

Time for an Update!

Oh man, it feels like the last update here happened ages ago. Though it only were three months.
I did some minor things like Overworld fixes/improvements, thinking of gimmicks for future levels and ASM shenanigans. Though there still are a lot of bigger bugs that need to be fixed.
Besides all these minor things I also made new levels. Two stages in total. Yes, making levels takes some time already and falling in little motivational holes stretches the time it takes to sometimes a few weeks but sometimes one or two months for one level.

But who cares about personal problems? Here are some screenshots:

This cave level revolves around the rolling and bouncing spiny eggs by Mandew and blocks that either are solid for only Mario or only sprites. It already has the midway point as well as two star coins so it is almost finished.

As usual: Critique/Opinions and suggestions for improving are welcome.

Nice level! The spiny eggs make for a great gimmick, there's a lot you can do with them. Visuals are also pretty good but the the FG palette looks a bit weird against the backround due to the really high contrast.

Not too fond of the ship level, as most of the obstacles with the boo rings seem to make the player wait a lot without giving them anything interesting to do. I like the boo blocks but they don't add much in this particular case as they're also sprites that make the player wait.
That reminds me of an SMB3 level with rolling Spiny eggs...nice! Keep up the good work, dude!

I will be as short as possible for people that don't care for further reasoning for my decision:

I will no longer be working on this hack!

Now let me go into detail:
I lately became super unhappy with the slow progress i made and a tiny yet completely unexplainable bug is happening. The struggle on moving forward in this hacks development has led me to more and more unhappyness. I just cannot find the motivation to work on this any longer. And with that in mind I came to the conclusion that it'd be the best if I'd just stop working on this project. It is really heartbreaking for me since this was the my first Hack that I was eager to finish and I have spent a huge amount of time in its progress.

I am sorry to disappoint everyone that was looking forward to it's release. That just won't happen.

UPDATE: No I'm back at it.

Welp, time to add yet another hack to the "unfinished hacks that I was looking forward to" list

It's a shame that you won't be working on an otherwise amazing hack anymore :( You can do something else instead :)

Update my boys.

I managed to put everything on a new rom again. Everything seems to work now, meaning that I can finally make progress again.

And I got something new to show off too:

That's what the first level of the mountain themed world will look like. It is using bouncing blocks in form of the red mushroom platforms and line guides with platforms and chainsaws.

I've never seen a project go from hiatus to complete revival so quickly in my life...
Looks good, glad to see that this hack is
already
back!

I didn't exactly follow the hack before, but I might because this looks very good.
OwO what's this?
Its a preview for a new level, obviously.

It is using custom blocks that break after mario jumps/runs off them together with Kirby Sprites.

I really liked the graphics. They're honey to my eyes (?)
But I think there's too much contrast on the FG. How about make the dirt lighter or the edges darker?

Nice Job! o/

Here's a video showing off the level I shared screenshots of before.

Criticism of the video's layout aswell as of the level itself are welcome.

After over a month of 'silence' ...

I finally finished world 3!

And thus started working on world 4:

I actually revamped that submap ages ago but never really showed it off or anything LOL

Aw, no new levels? The submap looks nice, though.

Who did say that there won't be new levels to show off?

So here is the first level of the Sky World. It is set on floating islands and revolves around Mandew's Boost Platforms.

The palettes are really nice and I can see this gimmick being used in some creative ways. Good work.
