[Non-Level] What are your plans for the VLDC next year?

For me I promise to:
  • Improve my level design habits
  • Become a (fan) judge, hopefully

Pretty much the same as what I did this year, pick a random sprite in the list and design the level around it. Will probably try to give more feedback next time as well, I definitely wanted to do a lot more levels but I kinda stopped my fan judge thread halfway in. I'd still like to do every level at some time just for fun but it obviously won't be as useful.
Not just to be good in level design/creativity, but to improve on my aesthetics, too.








Hone my technique a bit over the following year+ for making the next one. Perhaps next time, things will be a lot less amateurish on my end. ...Or at least a little less. #thp{zzz3}

I'm thinking either some kinda building with the ghost house tiles, something with ropes and mushrooms but not line guides, or something Japan-themed because I was pretty inspired by some of the entries I saw.

That is, if I enter. I tend to skip a VLDC and enter another.

I have plans for keep hosting VLDC for the next years, if nothing changes about me here. Although there's some stress and conflicts in being the host, seeing the excellent entries going here compensates all stress that you potentially gets though the process.

I wanted to submit more feedback to the levels. I'm far from being a perfect one to comment about the levels, but I think the little experience I have with hacks and on SMWC is already enough to me at least motivate people to keep improving and to finish their entries. And by the way, the fan judges did a fantastic job for the last days and I believe thanks for them a lot of our entries will have some impressive quality.

And if the demand of entries keep increasing, of course, I will keep doing my maximum to put all of them in a single ROM and offer freedom for doing an awesome collab, with polished gameplay and unique post-game.

I pretty much know what I'm NOT going to do: choosing gimmicks that are fundamentably flawed. :V

I have some ideas for some layer 2 smash shenanigans based on some testing I did a day or so ago so I think I'll be keeping some tricks I found in store for the next contest.
I don't use line guides that often so I'll probably find something interesting with those.
I'm thinking of an abstract level using some tiles from GFX19.
