Touhou Mario 2

Standard

That boss is straight awesome! I also really like the fact that you go into details to explain how you created it, it's interesting to read. Eevee did a great job too #tb{:]}
Wakana, that port of yours is real good as well. Sometimes when I listen to your ports, it's so good that I forget it's spc music
I'm late but hot damn that boss though. I wish this hack wasn't so far from being released.
Hmm...Been around a month and a half since anything was posted to this thread. Figured I'd poke it and see if anyone's still alive. I remember you mentioning announcements were going to be spread a bit more thinly, but it had still been a while since anyone had said anything, so I figured I'd check in.

Well, in my case, I'm slowly progressing on the soundtrack. Making new ports, refining old ones, redoing some which sound too crappy, etc. I'd be showing stuff, but you see, we kinda reached the "omg the final part of the hack" with ports, and I don't want to spoil you too much.
As for Vitor, well... he's getting flooded with his own irl stuff that he stopped progressing atm. I'm personally hoping he'll find his motivation back.

So ye... we're overly busy, but it's not like we forgot to finish this hack! #tb{:p}

Aah! Well that's good to hear! Hopefully Vitor can get back into the swing of things before too long. ^^;

Wow look. This is still a thing! #thp{=D}

I'm going to show one of the most interesting (maybe) and hardest levels of Touhou Mario 2. Time for Seija's level!

Before you ask, no, I didn't flip the images with an image editor~ If you peeked the trailer or the video of the Y-Flip in Vitor Vilela's channel, you probably saw... well, what this level is based on. While going through the Shining Needles Castle, the screen will get Y-Flipped. It may not seem such a big matter, but you'll experience that it's very tricky to pass this part, especially when you have to climb nets.
The second part is pretty much like the first one, except that the left and right arrows controls are reversed. Wait before swearing: in the middle of the second part, the screen will Y-Flip again! ...ok now you can swear as much as you want~<3

Stage music and boss theme.

Go nuts with feedback about anything, thanks in advance and stay tuned for more!

Why would I swear when I never done so in my life, and I love mirrored controls? I play with Mirrored controls quite often actually ^_^ after playing Touhou 14 for the first time four days ago, I am glad to say Seija Kijin is now in my top five characters, and I do not know if Utsuho Reiuji is at the second spot (or Fujiwara no Mokou for 1st for that matter) but still, can not wait to see SNCT in this. Honestly, Y-flips are the hardest to me. I can handle X-flips easily. as for Z-flips (or whatever a 180° rotation is called) is not that hard. (I find spell 84 in Touhou 14 easy anyway). Good luck on this, and I can not wait to see where it is placed on the word map either.

As always thank you for all the kind replies and so on. Knowing that there's still people interested in this makes me happy.

Quickly dropping this for you guys: SPC - YT of Clownpiece's theme.
Hype for Clownpiece being in the hack too!
(if you notice some slowdown, blame amsuk lmao)

Nice to hear Clownpiece's theme after so long of knowing she was in the game. Very good job! ^^

I did not know clownpiece was even in the game... Any news on progress though and I can not wait to record this...^_^

Okay, THat looks like Shiki's Spell from Touhou 5.

Graphics are very consistent, but what's up with the cliffs that have two palettes ? One is bright brown and the other is slightly gray ?

I also expected the bamboo forest to look more chaotic, but I guess Reisen must be trimming the edges :P

Nice work regardless

[color=008000]If you are going off of what I posted, I was going off of both Touhou Lore and the design of the map. Eientie being inside the Bamboo Forest and south of the Human Village, yet it looks like the bamboo forest is in the top left.</span>

Honestly, I think you should look at some of Gensokyo's architecture and replace the SMW Ghost house tiles with something more thematic to the hack; it just looks awkward to me. This goes for any of the other vSMW stuff that I see in the OW display.

I like it. It's impressive to see this kind of stuff done on the SMW engine.

It's the command for the 👌 emoji in Discord, although I don't think that answers your second question.

Anyway, this is ridiculous stuff here, Vitor; I can't even imagine the lengths you went to for this to work. I'm ashamed to admit that I never finished Touhou Mario 1, but I'll be sure to get to it very soon in anticipation for this! I can't wait to see what you do with your new Mode 7 toy in the future.
@Vitor Vilela: That Mode 7 looks really cool for a SMW hack like this! Keep up the good work! #smw{:TUP:}

Honestly, my brain is having a hard time processing how awesome this is. While I did know the SNES could actually show lots of sprite tiles, I would've certainly never imagined it could show enough for rendering a decently complex FG. I'm also amazed by the Mode 7 BG itself: using the mode for a simple rotation/zoom effect is already quite hard, but projection is downright maddening for me, personally. I'd like to know how much time this took you to setup correctly. Also, looking up to a way to use it with your tool if I understood correctly what you're planning for it.

Anyway, back on the topic of the sprite FG, I'm also curious as to what is the basis of your system. I'm guessing you're using the tilemap data then performing an upload to the OAM after reading tile numbers and taking scrolling into account ? I wonder how much flexible the system could become in the future (like, with a table telling which sprite tiles to use for which FG tiles), if it's not enough already.

Anyway, congrats Vitor. You just revolutionised SMW hacking AGAIN :P
