NEO REZTOPIA TOWER

This is fucking amazing. As a novice, I can barely understand how the exAnims are done. Drives me crazy tbh.

This is definitely a top10 contender, I hope the level design follows suit.

Yeah, I was smiling at myself with a mere 6 slots of exanimation used. This is just ridiculously amazing.

This area's got a clever setup, but it's not clear to the player on what they have to do at first. Even if the player does know though, the window where Mario has to go drop down before he's hit is very small. I'd consider adding a coin down there and extending the platform to the right slightly.

I moved the line guide end pieces back a tile, which makes the setup a little bit easier to deal with if you miss the jump the first time.

Other than that, Big Rez's Big City is a very fun level! I'd like to see what you'll do or change when adding the finishing touches, in terms of, well, anything, really. If you can finish these things up, you should be go to go!

Cheers! I have a few finishing touches to add, like an extra room, the yoshi coins, more coins, decor, tweaked level design, and perhaps a pre-boss room. I'll see what I can do.

Uh, for some reason the introduction Level brings me to level 1C5...

Oops. Fixed, just redownload it.

It was really easy actually, I just recolored one color of the line-guide for a bunch of tiles, then used exanimation to rotate the pallet. Feel free to look how I did it in the editor, this is why I leave my things unlocked.

There's only seven in this level, so don't feel too bad.

Thanks all for the comments! Expect another demo within a week or two, which should be the final version, the one with all the bells a whistles and extra polish and such.
Something about REZ'S looks and especially sounds really off. you could probably get away with REZNOR'S BIG CITY
It's pretty hard to differentiate layer 1 and 2. It can get confusing and disorienting
The laser beams are a little bright, especially when they flash like that
I'd put the midpoint after the grinder section, if only because its the hardest part of the level by far and it gets really tiresome having to do it every time you die on the rooftop section

dont really have much else to say. it was interesting and looked great!
ask me if i give a f*ck...

I really wanted the level to be called BIG REZNOR'S BIG CITY, so I settled with "REZ'S". I do, however, agree the REZNOR'S BIG CITY sounds better, so I'm gonna go with that.

Darkened the BG a bit...

...and those as well.

The intention is to put it after the grinder room once I add another room directly before the rooftop area.

Glad you liked it!
Demo4!

So yeah, I gave the level a bit of a facelift to make the whole thing a little more thematic, so give it a try even if you played any of the other 3.

Now, for some of my thoughts/notes about the level;

-should the thing be pit of 100 trials themed, with different enemies on each floor? Or stay how it is? (curious about this, pls answer)
-there isn't five yoshi coins yet. fight me
-the outside section may turn into an actual section with enemies and such, but it may be too long with it
-there's bugged tiles in the reznor fight, ik
Looking good as ever, allowiscous! For your question, either way is fine. If you're going to make a rooftop area though, I'd likely remove a couple of short rooms so the level's not too long, and make the rooftop area fairly short like the rest of the level. Also, I'm not sure if you can sneak in the OBEY BIG REZNOR sign again on Layer 2 during the rooftop portion, but if you can't, that's fine. I just found it weird how it's not there anymore when you're all the way up on the rooftops.

I'm looking forward to seeing this level 100% done! Let's wrap it up!
Just so you know, I'm very active on the site anymore like I was before; I'm mainly on Discord now.
submitted! Probably not the finalist version though
So I updated my level, yet again. This time, I decided to go with a more 100 trials esq theme and ditched all the grinder and bubble rooms. Each floor now has a different theme, and this iteration is perhaps the most fun. Give it one last try, because I am tired of looking at this level and this is probably the last demo!

Definitely an improvement. Room 85's start killed me because I jumped right when I touched the second falling platform. The room with the volcano lotus should be completely replaced in my opinion. Floor 100 looks a little worse than before, and the original reznor battle was better in my opinion (although so many powerups is not required for the old reznor battle).

First half was solid. Dolphin room was definitely much trickier than the rest though.

I liked a few of the old floors in the first half, but whatever. No need to fret about such minor things.
