(Currently Outdated) Common SM64 Hacking Q&A's ***Please read here first before posting your question***

Thanks! That was really easy actually :D

BOB had 155 3D objects to replace with my own objects, which is plenty, but other levels have many fewer. For instance, TTC only has 9, which isn't even enough for six Stars and eight Red Coins.

I imagine I will have to use Macro 3D Objects on these levels like TTC that don't have many normal 3D Objects. Do they behave any differently? Like, can I use the "Coin (for SSL pyramid top)" as a normal coin?

And then there are Special 3D Objects- how are those different?

Thanks again!
Whenever you replace a level, it automatically get's a set number of objects you can place. It's a lot so it should work out.

Oh cool, that makes a lot more sense. In hindsight, both of my questions were pretty stupid- thanks for the help XD
Hello there, I would like some help concerning voice editing. I wanted to make Mario voice more closely as to what it sounds when ripped out of the game to get familiar with n64soundtool, and I got some stranges issues as you can see : https://vid.me/o3QY sound effects are completely muted in the vanish cap stage only when entering normally, and its the only one that does this. It happens when I change one more sound in the soundbank 8, after 0B. I had the same issue with big boos haunt, but it happens only when I modify the drowning voice. Also the sound effects are muted after getting some stars. I'm pretty confused, so I'll gladly take an helping hand! Thanks for reading
I have a question. I`d like to put bosses like king bob omb into my hack the problem is that when I go into toads tool 64 and search through the list of enimes the bosses don't show up. Is there a way to fix this?
When i add a pipe or anything to the hub world it doesnt like appear

LOL
Don't enable the last star for objects.

How do I choose Model IDs that aren't in the Toad's Tool 64 Model ID list? I'm specifically trying to get Model ID 146 (Sonic Spring, due to more objects mod), but the list doesn't let me. I tried typing it in too, but to no effect.

You have to turn advanced mode on in order to type it in.

I ran into a game crash everytime I come close to a checkerboard elevator. I get that if you type 0.160 for Checkerboard Elevator 2, it works but for the other kind, it doesn't. And I was wondering why because I want to use the latter.
SUPER CRASH TIME YEAH!
Does anybody have a good guide on importing custom player models? I keep getting an error where I can't import it and that I should lower the amount of textures. The model I'm using, Smash 64 Mario, uses 5 textures.

I don't know about textures, but I've found that usually when you get that error, you can resolve it by decreasing the polygon count in your model. If you can't reduce the poly count, then I don't know. #w{=|}

Smash 64's Mario model is pretty low poly as is, though.

You need to use the SM64 Editor (you can find it in the Tools thread I posted if you don't have it), and click on the "Custom Importer" button, just make your model, make sure it follows the limitations and then import over the star model on there.

Um that's great and all, but how do I go about doing that, when it's not in the custom importer menu? I've actually looked through there many times and it's not preset in there, would I need to make the path myself in the editor to replace the star model?
I know this is almost definitely super crazy past what an ultra-beginner like me is able to do, but just in case it isn't: Would it be possible to create a new enemy that works exactly like an existing enemy, but has a different model from the game and custom textures?

Specifically I'm interested in making evil Toads that behave like Goombas and have angry faces.

Would that be possible and if so how? I'm pretty sure that, if it is, then it's probably, like I said, far beyond my capabilities, but still, I'd like to know all the same.

Yes this is possible, just change toad's model to goomba's model in Toads Tool 64,but this can create some strange effects like model not showing normally, but to avoid this you have to change toads/goomba behavior yourself, and this isn't easy to do.

Hmm. Thank you. Any more specifics on how to go about doing this?

In general, you can do this by going into TT64 and change the behavior of the selected object.

For instance, you could select "Goomba Walk" behavior, which would make Toad (or butterfly, as shown above) act/behave like a Goomba.
But the animation of the newly made "object combo" would be messed up, as the animation data (specifically, the skeletal structure data) of Goomba
does not match with the skeletal structure of the model "Toad". As result, Toad's animation and appearance will be messed up and he will look strange.

To fix this, you would have to go directly inside Goomba's or Toad's behavior and modify some behavior scripts in order to make everything work accordingly. If you don't want to touch the original behaviors, you could also make use of the unused behaviors. VL-Tone wrote a doc, in which he made a list of all behaviors and explained each of the behavior script commands.
