so uh, apparently the game on the baserom softlocks after you defeat bowser?
Yeah but there won't be any Bowsers in the contest, so it doesn't really matter. I think that was a SA-1 issue, but I'm not sure.
Your layout has been removed.
I'm not sure why you would want to use Bowser (it's a really boring unoriginal fight), but set sprite memory #lm{sprhead} header from 0x10 to 0x00.
You must set sprite memory to 0x00 due of the No More Sprite Tile Limits patch.

I have a question what does it mean when it says don't edit the original GFX. what does that mean?
RMG Productions
Basically you cant draw over the graphics with something new. Tile merging is different because you're just layering existing gfx, but you cant draw something that wasn't in the original game.

Apparently, my design of my VLDCX wasn't that good. One of the (fan) judges said my enemy placements suck, even they're not too hard to get through according to my testings. Here's when disadvantages happen.

1. My pace is a little bit on the quick side compared to other people.
2. Enemy placements are hard to tell, because I can never know if Mario expert can go through and I can't.
3. Testers that don't fan or real judge don't help me much.

So, you're saying enemies are more than helping you get a Yoshi coin or an obstacle. Sometimes fan judge's opinions can make it so hard to understand for me.

Mark, please keep in mind this is still a contest. The fan judges are only there to give you pointers. They can't help you too much, otherwise they'll put themselves at a disadvantage.

Testers are the ones that are meant to give you a detailed analysis of the flaws of your level.

disadvantage how? you really think we notice shit wrong with levels and then refuse to say it because we hope they do worse than we will? idk what kinda shitty fanjudges you've been fucking with but i am not half-assing my assessments so as to potentially better myself against the people i judge. this kinda shit happens once a year. i want everyone to be able to put out the best thing they can, if they can.

All I'm saying is nobody should rely on fan judges to replace testers. You may have time to give general pointers, but you don't have time to thoroughly test the entries every time a slight change is made.

That said, all the fan judges I've dealt with have been great so far.

we shouldn't have to. Unless there's a drastic re-working of the level (ie SNN's new secret exit), then it doesn't matter. If a fan judge mentions 5 things they dont like about the level, and then you fix those 5 things, then why bother playing it again?

Anyways you're still not making any sense. How is a fan judge any different than a tester??

I never said you had to, but it does help make my point that you still need testers when making your level. Fan judges were never meant to replace them.

Anyway, I've listed some of the differences below:

Testers
* Finishes the level normally & then plays through it multiple times to intentionally find ways to break the level, so you can fix some of the weirder quirks of the level.
* Plays through all revisions of the level. Major & minor.
* Makes specific suggestions as well as general suggestions.
* They are focused on the one level.
Fan Judges
* General suggestions.
* Plays through the level once or twice.
* Reviews the level and has to take into consideration the other levels for review purposes.

Hi.
I think the issue here is that Mark is afraid to make his level "too hard" or something. That's the feeling I'm getting, anyway.

How do I export levels as .mwl?

"File > Save Level to File". Also, wrong thread.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?

Yes, I remembered how I made my second part of my VLDC9 level.

What is the block that just enemies can step on, and Mario not?
I've seen it in some hacks, can anyone help me?

If we didn't submit the zip file correctly or included the wrong files, will someone be checking submissions and notifying people so they can change it before deadline ends? I want to make sure I did it right, and that other people will fix theirs if need be so people don't get dq'd for dumb reasons.
