[@ji] CLAUSTROPHOBICLIMB | COMPLETED LEVEL INSIDE

How about Fuzzy Freakout?
Your layout has been removed.
was messing around with fuzzies, as one tends to do, and i stumbled upon an interesting glitch, likely caused by the line guide wall patch applied to the base rom

Now I just gotta find somewhere I can use it. I have a few ideas.
ask me if i give a f*ck...
at this point what hasnt the line guide fix done to your level
Later.

It turns out that by utilizing the line guide fix patch to execute arbitrary code generated from a set seed the SMW engine can actually be repurposed into a perfect link to the past hack.

slow down my boundless desire to discover and innovate

e:
it appears this glitch is much more complicated than i initially thought.

e2: by process of elimination i am reverse engineering the shit out of this glitch and there are a surprisingly high amount of conditions that need to be met for it to behave

ever see that movie tremors?

Reminds me of winning a game of Spider Solitaire.

What kind of gameplay scenarios can this be utilized in?
I have no idea lmao

im considering dropping the sublevels/moon fight/yoshi altogether and just leaving the level as a tight, straight-forward platforming stage. Frankly I've been working on this level for over 2 months at this point and i'm just
fucking
sick of looking at it.
For now I'm just going to take a break from working on it, and come back to those final 2 sublevels later. If at all.

So as I've said, the patch in the OP has the newly redesigned main level, which I could use some feedback on, as the second half is entirely redesigned and much harder than the original. It's the part I want to make sure is as good as it can be, so any input helps!

Updated the OP with the new level link! Huge change this time around, all the sublevels are gone! At the end of the day all they did was elongate the experience and complicate things. They didn't make the level itself better, they just acted as a way for me to show off how creative I can be, which isn't the point of the level. I also thought about adding a secret exit that acts as a gauntlet of gimmicks, but really who wants that lol

I also kicked yoshi out the first chance i got because he sucked.

did somebody say another fuzzy gif

my idea for a challenge room of sorts was a tight room where you have to avoid the WALL OF FUZZ until they fly off the line and get eaten by yoshi... except yoshi doesn't eat line guided sprites X(

It wouldn't be the 11 rotations they are here. There's a way to manipulate them to stop registering line guides faster (i think i got it down to 4 rotations)

e: its also not going in the level. just figured i'd show it off since i have it >_>

Are you insane? Because that's insane.
Love the update! I actually have no complaints.

You basically revamped the entire thing & made it less confusing. I'd say your hard work will pay off once judging time arrives.

Hi.
What the fuck did you do to the fuzzies lmao
minor update: i scattered coin boxes throughout. It felt very strange that the original level only had about 4 coin boxes total, so I wanted to put more in to make it more consistent ("either have coin boxes or dont!").

There are multi-coin boxes scattered throughout that involve challenges like this. I had a lot of fun doing it, and I hope other people do as well! They're also entirely unobtrusive, which makes it a win-win! e: you can cheese this first one, which i have no problem with because, I mean, it's only a coin box.

I also added two 1-ups, for fun. One hidden and one in plain sight.

Is it even possible to go past this part

... and this part (specially)

without getting hurt?

Yes I used savestates, and yes it's possible but it's a 3-5 frame window. Isn't a little too much?

I think they just look more complicated than they actually are. Maybe I could elongate the coin line in the first part to make it clear that that's the intended way to do it?

Yea maybe it's just me, I'm not used to this kind of gimmick. Thinking about it, it can be actually hard to pull off for the ones playing if they don't have much experience with this kind of gameplay. I've seen some net levels, but a whole level made entirely of nets, it's a first lol.

Maybe some tuning down in obstacles could make it smoother to play? Remember that the casual player's perspective is different from yours!
Made a video of my level, for those of you that dont have time/dont want to play it.

I made a version with a fancy background, and before i submit it as an update I want to make sure it isn't too distracting

any opinions welcome!

e: correct .bps LOL
