Now that I actually have something significant to show, it's time to make a thread about this hack.
This is my current kaizo project, and the plot I chose is pretty much the same as the plot in Sokobansolver's "Mario vs. the Fourth Wall", where Mario is fed up with all the kaizo hacks and goes on a quest to kill the hack creator (me).
I haven't wanted to make another kaizo hack unless I'm creating something that I feel is unlike any hack I've made in the past. I'm excited to work on this one because I already have many ideas planned for future levels that I think bring something new to the table.
There will be 13 or 14 stages, depending on my mood, and I'm planning to make this hack more about platforming and enemy dodging than puzzles and intricate obstacles (note: "planning"). The levels are also going to be much shorter and easier than those in my last hack, Mario is Screwed; I don't think I can make another hack like that again without losing my mind.
What I've done in this hack so far:
-I disabled screen scrolling using the L/R keys (I always do this)
-I disabled spin jumping
-I inserted the wall kick patch
The video for stage 1 is already up. It's pretty much a warm-up level, nothing too fancy.
Videos:
Stage 1
Stage 2
Stage 3
Stage 4
Stage 5
Stage 6
Stage 7
(if i don't update this after uploading a video then yell at me for being forgetful)
Peeks at what I'm planning for future levels will come later. I'll leave a few screenshots here. The screenshots of stage 1 are the same ones I posted in the screenshots & videos thread.
My lazy overworld. There's a possibility I'll make a different one later, but that's unlikely because I suck at making overworlds.
Stage 1: Son of a Beach!
Stage 2: Generic Grassland
Those grey blocks are Erik557's Reflecting Projectile Block. You probably won't see them much outside this level because there aren't many extended sprites that work well with it.
that's all for now stick around dudes
