[134] Starlight Symphony (Done, ready for testing)

For reals though, this time, I'm making an Abstract-themed level, with the theme being a world of musical instruments, inspired by Band Land from the original Rayman game (Or, I guess you could say a bit influenced by the Desert of Dijiridoos in Rayman Origins, though this isn't a desert).

The gimmick would revolve around mostly Note Blocks, pipes to look like wind instruments, platforms, and Line Guides shaped to look like sheet music.

Screenshots of what I've got so far:

Opinions?

Looks fine so far. I like the aesthetics (the background, in particular, is really good) so far, and I can't see anything wrong with the design as well, even if it seems a bit generic so far. The gimmick is interesting, though, so looking forward to playing this.
This looks really great! I love the musical theme, and the FG made to look like piano tiles is especially creative. I'm not sure how well note blocks and kicking chucks would be paired together to not end in frusturation, but I'm sure it can work. The background though looks especially nice.
Ooooh, I really like that background. The foreground with what I assume are make-shift piano keys is cool too.
Layout by RanAS, modified by yours truly.

How are people doing these aesthetics like that?

Looks pretty good so far. The background is pretty impressive. I hope it's using some fancy parallax between layer 2 and 3. Too back it's a vanilla contest but applying HDMA there would make it pretty rad.

The only thing I'd suggest for now is trying to make a more creative foreground just like how you did with the background, specially in the first screenshot which looks the regular SMW foreground except with new palette.

Don't forget to try bringing up some creative sprite changes.

But other than that, good job so far. You're doing pretty good.

About done with the A E S T H E T I C. Here's an image of it.

This is not part of the level, this is simply just an example of the aethetics for my level, for the most part. Next update will show actual level design.

This is looking great! I can totally see the Rayman inspiration in it.
The palette seems a bit busy, but that might just be me and my simplistic mindset.
More progress. Going good so far.

RIP my musical themed level that I've been working since day 1

Level's looking good so far, although the visuals seem a bit distracting. Especially those colored notes everywhere. Besides that, it seems like a regular abstract level that doesn't even look that abstract.
I play forum games and draw furries. I'm mostly active on Discord and Twitter.

This might be a weird suggestion, but would the colored pipes look more like flutes or instruments if they were silver or bronze?

Perhaps, but I feel like maybe having them in unusual colors might make this level's theme a little more "unusual", which you may find in Abstract levels, or sometimes in little oddities in Space.

This is looking 👌👌 dude. I love the looks it has. Hope it plays as well as it looks!
First half is out!

Thanks for the buffer, Erik. So, how's the level so far? The farthest you can go as of now is when you see a bunch of ? Blocks.

Oh, and thanks for the music suggestion for the main part, Eevee. #smw{:TUP:}

The is the new Gambly Night right here. Awesome aesthetics and very cool gameplay. This goes straight to Best World for sure. #smw{:TUP:}
RIP 1st place dream
This is the best. Especially the piano keys. Also the pipe flutes. And the donut bridge looking like cymbals #wario{<3}

Actually, they're supposed to represent the Xylophone instrument. That explains the sticks on the edges of the bridge. I couldn't think of anything better than the Donut Bridge though...

Anyways, more progress, almost done with the Normal Exit route. The Secret Exit route's coming up soon.

Second to last screenshot is the bonus room. Nothin' like a little disco, no?

how can this be so perfect in every aspect
This looks so amazing!! Really nice visuals, this is an example of a well done aesthetic. Amazing looking, not cluttered, the visuals add to the theme and atmosphere but don't negatively harm the gameplay by getting in the way. Instead, they enhance the gameplay. Really nice job! I hope the level design is really good too, and if it is, I can see this being a really high scoring level.
