The jumphalf crew has been blessed by Helvetia.

Some gameplay and aesthetics. I'd fix the glitched bounce sprite but it unfortunately it interferes with the grinder graphics.
This level seems to have some of the most creative setups I've seen so far in this contest. Amazing!
Check out my new hack thread:
I love the way you used the line guides to make a music sheet. This is unprecedented in SMW hacking. I also like a lot the fact that you profited of SA-1's "more sprites" to have chains of enemies.
The palette is nice but imo you should lighten up the brown color that makes the shadowed parts of the FG tiles. The colors used by the bushes and palm trees could also be a little improved but I like the way they look "burnt" so idk.
The lack of a proper layer 2 BG in addition to the dunes is not even a problem, as a desert isn't supposed to show a lot of landscape.

tl;dr #smw{:TUP:}
the line guide treble clef alone makes me wet

gg
Man that's some amazing ideas, instantly reminded me of Rayman 1's music world for some reasons (and now that I think of it this is really reminiscent of Rayman Origins' desert/music world!).
A thing that you could do about that bounce block sprite interference would be to replace the grinders with something else, namely saws. The grinders seem to be the most appropriate for the ways you designed your level though, which is a bummer
Swiss world is gonna be hype. This looks amazing as I expected. The palm trees look odd, but then again your levels typically make odd look good, if that makes sense? They don't look out of place is what I'm saying.
Swiss meme ain't funny guyz

Anyways, third level themed after music here. Seems like you got the theme from Rayman Origins' Desert of Dijiridoos instead of Band Land like me. Thanks for covering me for that.

Looking good, Lazy! Just don't make it as ridiculous as Matterhorn. Also, the Note Blocks bug me. It's either Note Blocks or Grinders. Pick one, unless you really want glitched graphics lowering your score.

Either way, keep it up! I hope to see a Desert World in this hack!
Just so you know, I'm very active on the site anymore like I was before; I'm mainly on Discord now.

The level's perfectly fine as it is. Even if they seem weird visually, they work really well design-wise which makes up for it imo. Saws could work but their hitbox actually changes things quite a bit (in particular with the upside-down one, which is really unforgiving)

Really liking this, one of the best levels so far imo. Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind words everyone! I'm probably gonna keep these palettes because I like my bold contrasts.

Good call, I totally forgot about those. Shouldn't be too hard to replace the grinders with those without screwing up the level design. They look more like musical notes too, so it fits.

Also here's a kind of gruesome yoshi filter that I just came up with
That's fucking gnarly with the little blood splats. I love it.
Jeez.. haha. That's hilarious. Also, I don't really care about the note blocks, but you could try switching them with saws, as long as the gameplay isn't changed too much.

This level is looking really awesome, the SMB3 blocks look pretty cool too.
This anti-Yoshi part 👌👌👌
We can always use a bit more Swiss in this contest.
This looks hella rad.

It's too bad you have to replace the grinders with chainsaws for the note blocks. I've always found chainsaws to be pretty lame in comparison to the grinders. But you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.
That anti-yoshi pit is super funny, the fact you can see him swirling around down there just makes it all the more morbid, haha
I've seen those 5 line guide dodging sections a few times before, but kudos for making your actually look fun. The overall dodging looks super fun to play through. In general, the sheer amount of sprites and relative ease you can avoid them just makes flying through them feel so much better.

I dont know how I feel about the palette. Those dank brown palm trees look a little dirty, but i dont think they look bad. I am hoping there will eventually be an actual background in the sky. A screen that's 60% white is kind of eugh
ask me if i give a f*ck...
Looks good so far! The music staff and anti-yoshi parts are looking really creative.
Also I was curious to see if those grinders were supposed to be notes. They are.

This is one of the dopest levels I've ever seen
I came
this is very good!
Lazy is actually Swiss so this is a confirmation that they really do have barrages of active sawblades lying around everywhere.
That Yoshi filter is honestly the best thing I've seen on this forum so far. Really neat detail there!
Yes, Lazy can confirm that Nairobi is indeed the capital of Switzerland.

Also, that music from the saws is awesome.
