This one is not allowed, because the torch originally has a solid color behind it - you cannot replace colors with transparency.

I just realised this is not clarified in the rules (but it is in the summary), I'll edit it in.

I can make a ExGFX Bin file with mix things? Like Stone wall castle + mushrooms + cave + ghost house? All of them in same file Bin?

Yes, that's what you'd use ExGFX for generally.

And about the sprites, i can use YY-CHR to overwrite?

If you mean mix sprite sets then yes.

Oh, and another: For example, have a tile in his corner a little transparent thing, i can recolor It?

You technically cannot recolor transparency, but you can easily overlap a tile with a solid color tile, so it counts as tile merging. So feel free to do it, but don't merge the resulting tile with anything else.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
I'm looking to work with a partner for this VLDC (my first one lol). Mostly cause I want to complete my level by the deadline, and really the only resource I can use right now is Wine Lunar Magic (because my main hacking laptop's getting fixed), and plus, I need all the help I can get. I have an idea in mind, and I can create like mini-rooms and spruce up the levels once the main-stays are done, but other than that, I can't really do much without it taking a lot of time.

tl;dr: I need a partner badly cause time constraints. Hopefully one who has experience with level design.
Porting music is like walking down a street. Sometimes it goes nicely and sometimes you wANT TO STAB SOMEONE IN THE HEAD DUE TO HOW HARD TH IS IS
I'm seeing a rise in industrial/factory levels.

so can we use a different base rom?
just like the unmodified rom w/ no patches?
my level has no glitches that are forced so...
is it ok?

e: HOLY CRAP 666th POST!

I used unmodified rom in last two VLDC's and nobody complained about it.
It's not a huge issue, but using the base rom is heavily recommended, even if just to make sure nothing breaks once ported over. Using the Map16 already inserted is also heavily recommended in order not to waste space on the compilation with duplicates.

[...]You also cannot recolor transparency into a solid color, but that's easy to get around with tile merging.

so does that mean I can technically merge something with, say, tile FC and it would be fair game 🤔
Yes you could.
Kinda confused about one thing:

Does that mean we get 8 entries or one entry with one main level + 7 sublevels?

I know it should be obvious sorry
Do I need to answer this one? lol

If you will look directly to the left of the circled words, you will find your answer.

Is there any problem on using the Base ROM? Is it the SA-1?

Not using the base ROM will just put put your entry into an unneeded risk.

One entry.

Alright, thanks. I don't need to waste time making 7 other levels haha

Just think of every Judge having to score 8 levels per person.
6 Judges * 8 Levels * [x] contestants = VLDCX-Results 2097 confirmed

Also somehow i like the rules are less strict than last year. On the other hands there may be some rather complex levels with 7 Sublevels being allowed. I know "you should beat the level in 600SMW-seconds" but i guess that´s pretty much as well.

Oh, forgot to mention: for some happy fun times, I want to see you guys name all the levels featured in my banner.
The prize is a pat on the head and a kiss on the cheek from me #wario{<3}.

Here's nearly all of them. Unfortunately, I can't recognize the bottom-middle one at all.
They certainly picked quite a variety of levels for the logo.

Hi.
WHY WOULD YOU PUT VARIETY PATH IN THE LOGO IM NOW HAVING VIETNAM FLASHBACKS HELP
Now I'm wondering if it's possible to create a similar effect from the banner in the compilation ROM, except animated. You could see lot of levels blend in each one, "X track funil" rotating and growing and then the X expanding with the Vanilla Level Design Contest appearing as an animation.

Who knows. SA-1 has character conversion DMA.

That one looks not too hard to put in the SNES, even with the hardware limitations. We will see how it will look in the future ;)
