Super Gracie World

Kaizo

I dig that castle so far; simple, but definitely well made #smw{:TUP:}

Are you still planning to keep the line guide tiles as tile 1F0 though? It could confuse people if you do happen to have actual line guides in the level at a later point.

Your last WIP stage is quite great! And it's the first time I see you're using custom music!

I appreciate it :)

Thanks, I like to keep the levels for Gracie World pretty simple. It took a bit of fiddling to get each obstacle dialed in. For example making it so the next ledge was in the camera frame, and you wouldn't hit your head on spikes above the camera, making each section precise but not frustrating, etc.

There might be line guides later in the level, so that is something I will definitely keep in mind.

Progress is still slow and steady.
I've been going through some of the older levels and making a lot of little changes here and there, like adding a preview door to the last shell jump in the cave level, making some things a little easier, and removing a couple annoying hidden blocks (and adding some extra:P).
I actually just finished completely rebuilding a large portion of the ghost house, making the second half a little more interesting.
So basically, even if you've played or seen the levels, there will still be some surprises when you play the completed hack #w{>=)}

I changed all instances of the 1F0 tile in the game to the midway tape graphic.

just to have something to show:
changed the wendy battle once again.

but it seems just a tad too easy, any ideas to make it a little more difficult?

Seems better now, although I assume it's still possible to stand on the gap to the right while dodging the podoboos. You could add a standalone enemy in there or just add the spotlight block sprite.

Hmm, final jump into that little gap could be a bit difficult. I'm liking it though.

I'd extend the rightmost spike wall one tile down so people can't stick between the spotlights and jump out of them. That could be just my perfectionist side kicking in.
Other than that, a thumbs up from me!

Lol you guys have conflicting thoughts. The gap isn't actually that hard to get in. The Wendy pattern is the same every time, so it's not too hard to learn, and there will be a checkpoint right before the fight. Also I tried getting stuck on the wall but I actually couldnt, I think any cheese is harder than the intended strat.
Thanks for the feedback btw.

After going back to it, I'm having trouble getting in there now :p turns out you were right.

Updated version of this castle level, now titled "Low and B-Hold". Get it? Because a lot of the tricks involve holding jump right after bouncing on an object to go low and far.
I have an idea for the boss fight, Big Boo with layer 2 smashing spikes.

Not the best name for the level, but the idea is actually great!

Yeah, none of the names are final yet, but thank you.

Also, I haven't showed a full level in a while, so here is the full version of theunnamed vertical rope level I showed before. The second half is kinda hard, but doable. I know it kinda switches up the gimmick halfway through, but ehh I think its ok. :P

Thanks, I had a lot of trouble with this level, so that's good to hear :)

I'm not a fan of the palette of the castle blocks, but that could be just my impression. The level looks simple, but well designed so far. I like the idea you have for the boss battle and I'm waiting to see how it will develop.

The athletic level is also really fun to watch and play as the old version did, so good job! I assume those doors are mainly reset doors? That is, considering how you have applied the reset system into your hack, but that's no problem nonetheless.
