R.I.P. Nicholas 'eXcavator' Arts, 1996-2016

I have no words to express my feelings. I'd never imagine that someone active on the board would pass away so early.

I used to talk with eXcavator occasionally at IRC, often discussing about ZSNES and why he still persists to defend and use it. Surely I will feel weird every time I open ZSNES now, since he was pretty much the one who most liked the emulator and kept using it until the end.
eX was definitely one of my favorites users from this site. we played minecraft and dark souls together a lot and when irc was still alive we spoke there all the time. he was always easy going and didnt have much negative to say which made chatting with him all the more enjoyable. i can still remember the vibrations of him typing on his laptop which made sounds in his mic that he was curtain weren't audible. im very grateful that i meet him and will cherish the times we spent together.

my prayers go out to his family, may his soul rest in peace.
woah, talking about being inactive. Rest in piece.
Give thanks to RPG hacker for working on Asar.
I haven't really talked a lot with ex. Whenever I did though, he seemed like a cool person. I am very shocked because he was a well known long time SMWC member. I am also shocked that he died at the age of 20... That's still such a young age.

It's a grim reminder that the person you talk to on the internet is, y'know, a living human being and that anything could happen to them any day - beyond your control. Cherish the moments you spend with your friends.

May he rest in peace, and may God or whatever deity he believes in forgive any sin he may have.
Wow, I never new Nicholas but definitely knew of him.
It just feels so unreal to hear someone I see so often on this site has passed, and only at the age of 20.
Rest in Peace. #tb{D'X}

Whoa, that's a shame. I wish him a safe venture into eternity.
Rest in peace eXcavator. We never met, but from what I heard about you we lost a great person and artist today.

Vanilla Twist!
It's surreal to think that one of the most active people here and on IRC have passed away. He was a cool dude and went out too young. My condolences to his family and friends.

I didn't talk to him directly a whole lot but I do remember we played some Mario Kart, Smash and some Minecraft in the old days, but he did hang out on IRC all the time and we had some nice vidya discussions in #smwc. Just knowing that eXcavator will never show up in that list of online users again can really hit you hard. May he rest in peace.
Wow...this is the last thing I expected to see today. I never knew Nicholas, but I can see that he was very well known and respected here, and he seemed like a good guy.

I don't know what else to say...I'm truly sorry for his family and everyone who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Said much better than I could in every way.

Here's a small tribute from me, I said what I wanted to say somewhere else:
Damn... I never really talked to eXcavator directly too often, but he was always around. Sometimes we would chat and it was nice to have someone talking to break the silence. I'm going to miss that and I think everyone else on the irc also going to feel it. Rest in peace, eXcavator.

This is my little tribute to eXcavator.

I remember talking to ex pretty much every day on IRC for years. For all his stubbornness in our various discussions (iirc especially with Derpy), and sometimes bugging him about mibbit and zsnes, it was always fun to be with him.

Disregard the physical distance and cherish those online relationships. Tell your friends you love them every day. Behind each of these screens is a real heart that just wants as much love as the person sitting next to you in the real world. Love your neighbor, even if you're in Louisiana and he's in New Jersey.

Rest in peace, eXcavator. I love you, man.

Going to also quote this.
We've got to cherish the people and things we love. That's what matters the most.

Looking at his last post I was one of the people he mentioned missing. I can't really describe how this makes me feel. I miss you too man. Forever. I won't forget about you.
Wow, uh, I'm still trying to process this. You don't often realize that the people you talk to are just flesh and bones and can disappear out of the blue. I don't think I've ever lost someone I had clear and fond memories of. EXcavator was someone I did have very fond memories of. I don't really know what else to say. The first person who found out about this must have gotten a huge shock.

Rest in peace, eXcavator.
I admit that I never got to know eXcavator personally but his sudden death at 20 years of age was surprising to me. I guess death can come unexpectedly.

You touched the hearts of those who did know you. You were a better person than I could ever be.

My condolecences to his family and close friends.
I... don't really know what to say. I can still remember the sound of his voice. I remember talking with him about new Danganronpa 3 episodes every week. That was so recent. It never even crossed my mind that that could be the last conversation I would ever have with him... I know he could be kind of an ass sometimes but I still considered him a friend of mine.

Jesus... treasure the friends you have now, even if you're not too close to them. Even if you've fallen out of touch with them. It really goes to show that they can be torn away from you without you ever knowing.

Rest in peace, eX. The online users list is never going to look the same without you.
I really liked exCavator, and of course I liked his ideas, obviously.
We will really miss you.
I didn't really know eXcavator, but I used to see a lot of his posts when I hadn't registered here yet. He really seemed like a funny and talkative guy. I... I can't imagine how much it hit his friends and his family. My most sincere condoleances to them.

Dying at age 20 is horrible. He probably had hopes and dreams like everyone else here... I just hope he died peacefully and without regrets. May his poor soul rest in peace.
I'm very sorry to hear this. I didn't know this user very well myself, but there are obviously a bunch of people who did, and it's always sad to see someone you like disappear forever. At such a young age, too. My condolences go to all people who are affected by this death.
This is terrible. I barely knew him but still. Rest in peace.
