R.I.P. Nicholas 'eXcavator' Arts, 1996-2016

Used to play Minecraft and talk on IRC back in the day... RIP little buddy
Tragic.

eXcavator has been a regular, active user of this site for years, and he was tons of fun to talk to on IRC, especially about hacking. He was really passionate about the VLDC's - I remember him asking me for an extension on his entry in the 8th contest, and he was genuinely thrilled that he got a chance to participate. Same story with the 9th - he was extremely eager to play it when it was released, and asked about it time and time again. I am glad he got the chance to showcase his work - we have already talked about adding a little memorial to his level.

Rest in peace. You'll definitely be missed by all of us.
I didn't interact much with eXcavator other than random games of mafia or to join the bandwagon making fun of him for using mibbit or ZSNES. Even so, this hit me harder than I could imagine. I can't imagine how those closer to him are taking this. My condolances go out to you all.

There is much more I want to say but I simply can't think of the words to do do.
Other than playing Nutsy Bolts with eXcavator back in 2013, I really didn't know him that much, but damn, I'm speechless. It's really sad to him go, especially at such a young age. I just wish I got to know him more before he passed, because he seemed liked a cool guy. Well, I hope he's in a better place now. R.I.P. #ab{;_;}#ab{;_;}#ab{;_;}
I already wrote my feelings towards him and how much I enjoyed his presence in another place, and I feel like repeating it all just for this thread would be weird, but I loved this guy, rest in peace friend. I'll miss you.

What S.N.N. said.

A lot of people on this site have gotten to know him in the 5(?) years he's been a part of the community, and it sucks that I never really got to know him (and never will get to know him), and can imagine what some of the other people here who have been friends with him here are feeling now, particularly eX's family.

I went to check and see if I played any of this guy's hacks or whatnot, because I thought I recalled saying the name at least once in all my let's plays.
Thank you for your 8th VLDC level. It was really creative, even if hard and a noticeable difficulty spike.

Rest in peace, you'll be missed by a lot of people from over here.
Having been busy with university these past few days, I didn't really catch wind of the news and legitimately thought this was some sort of joke when I first saw the mosts votes, and then the news post.

I... all I can say is that I sorely wish I were right.

Words fail me.

I am speechless. Even though we may've not talked lots, it is still tragic the loss of such an amazing person.

Rest in peace, eXcavator.

i dont really know what to say
I never really got to know eXcavator, but from the few interactions I had with him, he always seemed to be a nice, decent person. My condolences to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.
I genuinely can't believe it. It's too sudden. I seriously can't process it.

I will never forget you as one of my first best friends here in SMWCentral, Nicholas. I can't find the right words right now... I wish I had returned to the IRC earlier. Or at least that... I dunno... you were actually here still?

May God bless your soul wherever you are.

Never really got to know him as well, but I've seem him around a lot and he was definitely a great person. Best wishes to his family and friends, I honestly can't even imagine what you guys are going through right now.

Rest in peace.
eXcavator....? How could I have forgotten about you? We haven't talked since JDCGames got shut down, and now.... this. I remember your feedback and constructive criticisms about both my overworlds and my levels in Mario Lost in the Forest, as well as chatting with you in JDCGames alongside Evilguy, JDC, Mr Esc, MaxodeX, and Prizm...

To honor you, old friend... I made you a gravestone in Daizo's Journey:

I kind of wish I could E-mail his parents to tell them that he's made a big impact on SMWC, but that's only a small thought... Rest in peace, old friend.
Aw man. He'll be missed. He was a good guy.

dont know what to say. hope he finds peace, and best wishes to his family and friends; theyve lost someone special
rip eXcavator, all respect.
I wish I had at least talked to eXcavator once before this, but unfortunately I haven't. Much like other people, I only know him by name and I've never really interacted with him. Although, he really seemed like a fun and nice guy, and 20 is far from ready to go. I'm really sorry for him and his family- this must be a hard time to be going through. I'm sorry for all who were friends with him. He seemed like a decent guy, and there was no reason to die this earlier.

Rest in peace, eXcavator. I hope you've enjoyed the life you had, and I hope you enjoy your life up in heaven. Good luck to his friends and family.

Hina edit: fixed typo.
Wow. What a great person that we have lost; his VLDC levels were really my thing.

This is such a complex situation. I don't know what to say.
