The Fragmented Realm | Demo 2 is out!

Standard

Hey there! So I don't have a whole lot to show off right now, but after getting some work done I am ready to start a thread for this hack and show off at least the first level.

A lot of the things you'll be able to see on the screenshots and the video can still change in the future, most of the things could either be final or not.

The story is simple, yet rather unique in its own way. This hack won't actually require you to save Princess Peach, Luigi, or any of the other characters in the Mario universe. Purple colored fragments have been scattered across the land and it's Mario's job to collect them all. Only with all of the fragments collected will he be able to progress through the final world, which is a mysterious and unknown place.

There are five fragments (Dragon coins) in each level. It is important you collect them all, because you'll need it for the final world.

World 1: Level 2 (Pipe Valley)
World 1: Level 2 (Switch Caverns)

Do you enjoy my work? Feel free to use this custom made userbar in your signature/bio/whatever.

So far, it looks like a neat hack, and I think you should title it around those purple triangle fragments, like "In search for the Purple Fragments" (or probably even "Illuminati Confirmed"). I assume that the final world won't have any of those fragments, or if it does, do you need to collect them to get to the final level in the final world, or will the game be impossible without cheating because you need to collect a number of fragments that you can't get because the rest are in the final world, which you can't access?
Also, for Pipe Valley, I like the usage of the pipes in front of the dirt, and I assume that the goal sphere at the end is a temporary exit and you'll end it with a flagpole or something like that.
I have a DeviantArt, if you do want to see my art on there. I don't really visit it much now, though.

Thanks. I recently came up with a title, from now on the hack is called "The Fragmented Realm".

The final world won't have any fragments, I'm still thinking of some other gimmick for that particular world, but that will come eventually.

A few things have changed since the last shown screenshots/video.

Looks amazing! Cant wait to play this.
waaaaaaaaaaaa
The shading of the palletes.. is way too much for my eyes.. this is eye candy to be honest, cool hack though! #smw{} when is it gonna be finished?

How many exits will hack have (joke)

Looks great Dan! Its refreshing to see someone using an original status bar, as opposed to one that's been overused.

I have a suggestion, if you haven't already, implement a system where the level name gets a check mark next to it once all the fragments are collected in that area.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. It's been a while since I've posted here, so I'm sorry I've been keeping you waiting.

Progress has been made.

The level "Switch Caverns" is finished, it is the second level in the first world and it mainly includes P-switch puzzles. Don't worry, it's not difficult.

As suggested by danwaleby, a purple triangle is now shown once every fragment has been collected in the level.

And here's a video showing the level:

You work faster than I do at least.
Anyway, it looks pretty nice so far. The levels seem focused on both fun and aesthetics, and I like that. The only thing I find slightly unfitting are the fragments. With the way they are shaped, they are also shaded kind of oddly. They seem more like flat objects, but are shaded as if they are rounded. Either way, it doesn't matter too much and you shouldn't dwell on it. Just know I am interested and I do support it (I'd probably put the userbar in my signature once my layout works again). Nice job, can't wait to see more.
I've been getting a lot of work done! The third level is nearly completed, but I won't be showing a video or any screenshots of that.
Instead, I'll give you a video of my current credits sequence, which is still a work in progress.

I took the idea from New Super Mario Bros. Wii's credits sequence, although poorly executed as of now compared to that game, I do plan on improving it a lot.
The first demo of this hack has been released.

It's been a while since I posted anything regarding this hack, but that's okay, you can check it out for yourself now!
Hope y'all enjoy!
Love it, love everything about it :>

I made a gameplay, i'll upload it tomorrow
I'm probably the second Person playing it for YT, idk
Well, it's been a very long time since I've posted anything in this thread.

My original plan was to release a second demo during the latest C3. Unfortunately, though, I didn't reach my deadline and found myself still having to work on a bunch of stuff.

To make up for the lack of a demo, I decided to take my time and finish what I needed to finish, and release a demo right now. You can download it from the section here.
