Oh good more stuff I can procrastinate on. Sign me right up.

#fukARAM because everyone else is doing it

Welp, been out of the music porting scene for long enough that my last composition is older than AddMusicK, but hopefully it won't be too criptic for me to derust at it. Hopefully I'll do better than my last attempt at SMWC Idol! (note to self, this time don't do original compositions unless I have to)

#BlessARAM, because it's getting a lot of hate around here.
Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
There`s no problem in using trackers, right? If so, I`ll join in this one too. Lets see how much I improved since last C3 and how can I fare against more experienced porters...

EDIT: All right, I looked at the rules a little bit more, and I just want to clarify this: does converting SPCs generated from a tracker with a SPC converting program (me and most people use SPC to MML, but still) give you a penalty? If no, then I think someone should clarify that, since not everyone uses text files to make music and I think that detail should be addressed accordingly.

Sign-Ups are now closed. Thanks to those who have registered. You have 'til next Monday, September 12th to get yourself organized. The First challenge will be issued.
The Priliminaries are now beginning!
Round 1
START

CHALLENGE #1 : You are to either port or compose a song using three of the following samples included in your song: Samples.

Extension : You can use any samples from the game Last Bible 3

Rulings:
Round 1 BRR Test, for your convenience
• The provided samples do not need to be used throughout the entirety of your port/composition.
• Your song must work with #optimized sample group.
• You are allowed to use custom samples.
• You are allowed to use vanilla instruments.
• You must loop your ports/compositions properly. VilelaBot is exempt from this ruling: par reasons that he his a bot and can not do looping himself.
• You are not allowed to submit your composition/port to SMWCentral's Music Section until after the voting period.

Submission will be handled via PM. Private Message Skewer with the following:
.txt of your port/composition
sample folder (if you have used custom samples other than the ones provided in the download)

The contents are to be zipped in a .zip folder.

Elimnations are ENABLED for this round. There will be a total of Four participants eliminated following the results of this round. Any questions you may have should be asked in the Discussion Thread.

Note Deadline is Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11:59 PM EST. You have two weeks to complete this challenge. Afterwards, voting will be opened for one week and Four Eliminations will be drawn.

Notice: You are free to request an extension of Note Deadline.

The above are pre-set ADSR/Tuning values, you're not forced to use them, but they're provided for your convenience.
So then, this is embarrassing to say, but it's something that needs to be done. It's come to my attention that the round requirements this... round, are ridiculous as stated by a huge amount of the participants.

It's my duty to downright say that this round will have no eliminations, whether you submitted something or not. Unfortunately, there is no fair way to compensate those who have submitted a port/composition for this round. Following both this post and this round, there will be no more "Sampled Requirements", this also means there will be no Unsampled Round and Sampled Round as well.

What will be following however, will be both tests of your patience and mind, as what I have in store will throw contestants for a loop. (Get what I did there?) Do be preparing, we're putting this contest's challenges in fast forward.

Do be getting your resources together and be making plans, the next round is a difficult one, as since there are no eliminations due to this challenge being cancelled; there will be Eight Eliminations next round instead of the planned four.

Compensation for those who have submitted something to this round will be decided upon this next Monday. If anybody has anything to say, post it in the Discussion Thread or PM me personally. I want Idol to be enjoyable for everybody while adhering to the rules I've set out.

Those of you who have dropped out because of these requirements, you're free to PM me for readmission. This is normally never done, but mistakes are made and unfortunately for all the participants the mistake was on my part. Not again will I make a mistake, nor will a challenge be recalled.

Kept for logging purposes because I don't like to hide my mistakes. The restrictions for Round 1 have been reduced, check round 1 post for information.
Extension of Note Deadline has been requested; and you shall receive. Those who submit past the original submission date of Monday, September 26, 2016 (11:59 PM EST) will receive a deduction. Speaking of the original deadline, you can still get something in in the next ten hours.

Extended Deadline will last until Friday, September 30, 2016 (11:59 PM EST); those of you who can't make the original deadline can still get something in.

TL;DR - Those of you who need extra time have until I wake up Saturday morning to submit something.
Submissions are now over. Those who didn't submit anything are now disqualified. Voting will begin later today.
Here are the results for the Round 1 Voting Period, congratulations to the winners! I did say that the number of dropouts would affect the number of eliminations this round. We were originally supposed to have Four Eliminations, but the high number of drop outs made that initial number impossible. Thus, only two eliminations this round.

• lemon | Sinc-X | 204
• PictionaryTitleScreen | Torchkas | 174
• ElectricMike | Nameless | 161
• zinnia | Wakana | 156
• Nagisa | Kouhii | 153 (originally 163)
• route10 | Wavee | 143
• aquarius | Lui37 | 127
• 1000ab | DrTapeWorm | 125
• CyberspaceSanctuary | Daizo Dee Von | 97
• oyvey | MercuryPenny | 93
• BCKPDL | ergazoobie | 81
• gandrayda | Darius | 81
• OverWorld | Un8y | 50
• mountainfactory | Darkbones | 29

Results updated, fixed "Oy Vey", I don't know how that happened. I must have misclicked in the Calculator input. I had a lot I was handling at that point in time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Kouhii would have made it in 4th place if the user submitted before extension of Note Deadline. Also, "B C K P D L" and "gandrayda" were in a tie, so I had to compare votes to see which one had higher votes, and as much as I love the "gandrayda" song, BCKPDL had higher votes. There are a total of 2-Eliminations this round, so really gandrayda and BCKPDL (Backpedal?) have nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, users Darkbones and Un8y have been Eliminated from the Idol Competition. Thank you so much for playing, better luck next year fellas. The rest of the competition will move on to the next round.

Also fun fact, I would have given "Gandrayda" a 14 Score, because it's my favorite of the tracks. I've been listening to it constantly ever since it got submitted.

Speaking of the next round... it begins NOW!

Round 2
FIGHT!

CHALLENGE #2 : You are to either port or compose a song. There are no limits to what you can do. HOWEVER!!! Here's the twist: You must make a dark version of that very same song.

==> In before people get confused: You have to port one song, then make/remix it into a darker variation. You don't have to port two different songs.

Rulings:
• An excellent example are the stage themes of Tetris Attack SPC, take a listen to the regular and then the panic versions of the themes. This is an example of what we're looking for. Another example is Agon Wastes and Dark Agon Wastes. Use your imagination!
• You ALSO have to make a dark version, this means both versions must be submitted.
• You are allowed to use custom samples.
• You are allowed to use vanilla instruments.
• You must loop your ports/compositions properly.
• You are not allowed to submit your composition/port to SMWCentral's Music Section until after the voting period. If you submit, you must use the #optimized sample group.

Submission will be handled via PM. Private Message Skewer with the following:
TITLE : "IDOL SUBMISSION (Song Name:UserName)" This is done for my convenience for voting.
.txt of your port/composition
sample folder

The contents are to be zipped in a .zip folder.

Elimnations are ENABLED for this round. There will be a total of Two participants eliminated following the results of this round. Any questions you may have should be asked in the Discussion Thread.

Note Deadline is Thursday, October 27, 2016, the moment I wake up. You have until then to complete this challenge. Afterwards, voting will be opened for five days and Two Eliminations will be drawn.

Notice: You may not ask for an extension of Note Deadline, as we've had an extension last round. Should you fail to submit, you will be counted as Skewered Eliminated

Okay so a consensus has been reached regarding SNN's offer to host the contest if we started over. After this round of voting ends, we will end this contest and SNN will start a new one with a clean slate. Survivors of the current contest will get a bye to round 3 of the new contest. Any further questions about the new contest should be directed toward SNN.

Sorry for the inconvenience. With SNN at the helm tho I think we're gonna have a rad contest on our hands so get pumpt.

Sorry for the hold-up, I overslept a bit this morning and didn't have time to get the results up before I went to class, but here they are!

1. LUNAR by Sinc-X (37 points)
2. VEGA by Wakana (36 points)
3. METAL by Nameless (26 points)
3. VERMILLION by Kouhii (26 points)
5. CLOCK by Torchkas (20 points)
6. AURORA by DrTapeworm (13 points)
7. ARRIVAL by DaizoDeeVon (10 points)

The bottom two contestants (DrTapeworm and DaizoDeeVon) will be "eliminated", and everyone else who submitted this round will get a bye to round 3 of the rebooted tournament. Whether or not contestants eliminated in round 2 will get a bye to round 2 of the new contest has not been stated as far as I know, that's a question to ask SNN.

Big shout-outs to everyone who submitted this round cuz a lot of people (myself included) didn't even do that. Enjoy your well-earned rest, and best of luck in the new contest when round 3 comes around.

This marks the (sort-of) end of Idol 8 (7.5?), thanks to everyone who participated, but don't go anywhere cuz SNN should be starting Idol 8 2: Electric Boogaloo momentarily!

Yes, I think the best way to cater to the winners of this round is to give them a free pass to round 3. We'll go with that.

As for when the "reboot" will start: I have a bit of planning to do. Although I have some round themes decided, I want this to go as smoothly as possible. That being said, you can expect this to kick off either Friday or Saturday.

Stay tuned, and congrats to the winners of this round.
