I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Observation, not personal attack. Those are all valid reasons, they're just the same reasons everyone else has. And saying we aren't working hard enough to get this done while you are using those excuses gets annoying. Again, not you specifically, everyone who does this.

It seemed like a personal attack, even though it wasn't meant to be one. Any way, I think the problem is that there's only 4 people working on it, and not that they are not working hard enough.

Then how about you make it five and join #smwcp and start contributing instead of trying to get people to do things while otherwise you sit on your hands? Talk is cheap.

Something I've felt that we really need for quite some time is a list of level-specific bugs that the general userbase can actually assist in fixing. The nastier/more global bugs can obviously be dealt with by the head folks who are still managing it (i.e. HFD/Lui), but there are tons of other little things that a moderately skilled hacker can fix. For instance, as far as I know, the blocks in Crumbling Catacombs still don't react to sprites hitting them (and this has been an ongoing bug for years now). The snowball in Jimmy's level also screws up.

One thing I've learned over my years of leading collabs/contests/projects is that if you want things to get done, you have to a) pick a very specific task, and b) assign a person to that task. If you simply throw around vague comments such as "we need redrawn graphics", nobody is going to help. In this particular thread, Koops has expressed that he has some ASM knowledge. I don't really know him that well as a user, but if this is true, perhaps the current project leaders could pick two or three specific bugs and then assign them to Koops? Not only will that demonstrate that he is, in fact, willing to actually contribute, but it will also usher the project further in the right direction.
I completely agree with above. While the vast majority of the community can't really help with things like global bugs, we can help with the more minor issues.
Isn't there already a list of bugs sitting somewhere on this forum or is that just a to-do list? I took a look at the forum and see no threads titled with a list of sorts (unless its that update thread in which case it should be moved to a thread all on its own).

I think the reason why there are so few people working on it is because:

a: people don't know where to look or have easy access to a simple list saying what needs to be done or what needs to be fixed
b: there simply isn't enough people who are willing to help that have knowledge on the subject that needs help

Small question, have you thought that much into the promotion of game? Do you have promotional materials ready or are you going to cross that bridge once everything is finally done?

There's plenty of stuff that can be used for promotional purposes, it's just that promoting this hack isn't a priority at the moment. Once everything else gets squared away, promotional material will be considered.

If I remember correctly, there are already some trailers.

..And there you have it.

I think even having a THOUGHT of selling a SMW hack could cause Nintendo to sue you for $150,000.

well no

Imagine working 6+ years on a game and not getting paid for it.

I haven't contributed with this project at all (Except for one or another level testing/bug hunting in the early days) but I'm really excited for the final game.

I'm glad to see that progress is still being done, and I'm pretty sure it will turn out to be an amazing hack. So, I really wish best of luck to you guys in what remains to be done.

(I can see a lot of let's plays and speedruns of this game already)
Is SMWCP2 still being worked on? It's been more than 3 months since I last saw a response in this thread.
Honestly, at this point we should just put the project out of its misery and release the base ROM as is. #tb{''}

I'd like to say the usual "it's being worked on" but it seems Lui has been really busy and I haven't seen him around in a while, so I'm not sure it is right now.
Multiple people have the baserom though, so it won't be lost if he disappears or anything.

What's left that needs to be done at this point? Maybe more communication on the situation will help? : )

I told Lui to post this some time ago, but I guess he never got around to it. I'll post it here for now until he gets around to making an official post about it.

Issue list

Edit: Also, you can't tell if you aren't a developer on the project, but I have 7 pull requests out right now that resolve 8 of those issues, they just haven't been merged yet. I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but a lot of those issues are level design issues/graphical issues that aren't coding problems.
