How about Cosmic Clones?
Would it be possible to create some kind of hub world (Not like the Overworld) with sidescrolling where Mario can explore and enter levels he's unlocked? As some kind of OW replacement? I think that would be really cool. I'm thinking like some kind of side-scrolling version of the ones you see in games like Mario 64, Mario Sunshine, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Unleashed, or other games with a hub world like that.
I'm a TrashCAN, not a TrashCAN'T.

If I understand this correctly I made something like that a while (5 maybe 6 months) ago for my own hack (Which most likely never gets released but that's not the point lol)
I guess I could make a public version out of it... consider it as WIP I suppose.

You could do this with Yoshi Coins...
Type: Sticky Block

What does it do?

This block acts very similar to the blue/purple block that is solid that you can pick up. The only difference is that if you throw this block up to the ceiling or against a side wall the block sticks to the walls!

What do you mean with Yoshi coins?

He means that you could use yoshi coins instead of stars to unlock shit. I guess he assumes you wanted to have power stars like in SM64.

allow shy guy emojis in post footers you cowards!

I've already requested that and Thomas has made the Yoshi Coin Overworld Tile Locks, but I think the difference of TrashCan64's request is the fact that he/she wants the Yoshi Tile Lock to be activated in a Level (hub) rather than the Overworld.

I'm assuming that TrashCan64 is requesting for the Overworld to be in a Level format. Also, probably wanting a door block that could be opened depending on how many Yoshi Coins you've collected from a level.

One thing is that I don't know is if TrashCan64 mainly wants a Hub World patch or a door (block) that can only be accessed by a certain amount of Yoshi Coins.

I've seen this thing in Mario Forever fan game.

Name: Appearing Block

Type: Block

What does it do?:

This block is clear like tile 25 and passable by mario when he touches it, however once mario has passed through the block and is no longer touching it, the block transforms in a puff of smoke into a cement block or possibly other types of blocks set in the define.

  • Request name: Flame Spread.

  • Type: Sprite

  • Short description: A "Sumo Brother's Flame" that keeps spreading left and right until it either hits a wall or a ledge..

  • Resources: Vanilla Graphics.

  • Links: Put videos, images, etc., that can make your request clearer

  • Long description: Put details about your request.
  • So looks like nobody is fulfilling requests anymore...? That's sad to see. Thought this would last a little more longer so I could finally make good usage at it (awards, badges, etc.)

Either way, I see you guys aren't really using the proper request format anymore. So I request again to use them. Also, boldowa/757 made a tool for generating ASM request table, which might be make following this format easier, so: http://mario4.boldfin.net/smwc/request_gen.html have fun.

Yeah, it pretty much did die. Just incase, I'll input my request here and I will try to figure out how to make Lemmy's Circus Ball on my own.

@smwln: Part of the requested patch already exists in form of the star coin patch.
There is also the overworld counters patch which is once again that what you have requested.
Don't forget about SRAM Plus which saves them generally.

The only exceptions are about the Yoshi wing bonus level but considering that the star coin patch uses custom blocks, you have to edit the blocks itself and that there is no option that the game doesn't remind the collected dragon coins so you have to edit the patch but still, you request already existing stuff.

However, I still can fullify your request partly about the vanilla dragon coins in the bonus game:
    Code
    org $00F34E
    autoclean JML bonus_level

    bonus_level:
    	LDA $1B95
    	BEQ .return
    	LDA $13BF
    	LSR #3
    	TAY
    	LDA $13BF
    	AND #$07
    	TAX
    	LDA $05B35B,x
    	ORA $1F2F,y
    	STA $1F2F,y
    .return
    JML $00F357

You can also put STZ $1422 : STZ $1420 into the level init code for the Yoshi bonus level in UberASM to clear all collected dragon coins and use Map16 tiles (once again, if you use default dragon coins).
I was already using the OW Counters patch and SRAM Plus, but that still didn't achieve exactly what I wanted. Here was part of my original post that wasn't in the proper request format where I explained this. I deleted the post because I was afraid I might be breaking some rule of posting a request twice.

Additionally, the OW Counters patch doesn't seem to work with this patch (Mario moves too fast and the counter for the level he's traveling to isn't read correctly?) which is another reason I made this request.

Edit (like a year and a half later lol): Deleted the request because I achieved what I wanted using other patches anyway.
    Super Overworld Border

Basically intended to be like the super status bar patch, this patch allows you to manually write tiles without having to write to v-ram. The byte formats of freeram would also be similar to the super status bar patch (NNNNNNNN YXPCCCTT). But the difference is that you can control many bytes (size) the freeram is at, so if you are running low on RAM and not many spaces on the overworld border is used, you can sacrifice those unused space for something else.

By defualt, you don't have to have writeable RAM tiles for the right or left side, just the top like smw's level status bar/HUD.

    Note to self:
-I lean about writing to vram on this post.
Regs.txt have info about using the hardware registers. (do not view on notepad, as the "newline" or linebreak character is ommited and looks like garbage, as all the lines are merged), Here is a simple example of writing "00":

    Code
LDA #$80	;\Make storing $2119 goes to the next 8x8 tile
    	STA $2115	;/

    	REP #$20
    	LDA #$5000	;\Tile position
    	STA $2116	;/
    	SEP #$20

    	LDA #$22	;\Tile
    	STA $2118	;/

    	LDA #$39	;\Properties
    	STA $2119	;/

    	LDA #$22	;\Second 8x8 tile
    	STA $2118	;/

    	LDA #$39	;\second 8x8 properties
    	STA $2119	;/
