once the novelty of making my own mario game wore off, i began to realize it was a lot of fun to come up with ideas and apply them in many different ways.
Also, making mario is fun (citation needed)
Hard mario is fun to watch. I find it funny when people try to jump on and off the statue in Manky Bridge while they slowly run out of time.
Creativity and level design of course.
Level design, using anything in any way,in other words using ideas in creative ways.

Probably posting my work and seeing what others think about it, if that doesn't count then planning the level(aesthetically) and then applying it on SMW, that is probably why i have 4 levels started that aren't even half complete :V
Overworlds. They are really fun to make to me. Also, finally finishing a hack that you worked so hard on. (Or at least that is what I hope to accomplish with Mario's Final Quest.)
