Have you ever been called by an army recruiter?

I just got a call from one today, and I'm guessing I'll recieve more in the future. I'm not interested at all in joining the military, but I don't want to sound like a dick. They know my parents home phone, but luckily, I was smart and gave them the wrong number when they asked for my cell. (I only changed one number though) If any of you have experienced this, how did you deal with it? And how should I deal with it?
... Tell them you have no interest in the military?

lol, you think it's that easy? I did say that I wasn't interested at the begining of call, but he kept droning on about how I should join, and how it's my best option. He asked for my number, so I'm assuming he's going to keep trying to convince me.
Then keep telling him no.

Haven't been called, but I had some issues with the Brazilian government I had to rectify because of my dual nationality.

Doesn't Brazil have compulsory military service?

Up until a few years ago, there was actually a compulsory military service for a family's oldest son in Germany, or in the case of a disability (or any other scenario that would disqualify that person from having to go to the military), the next-youngest capable son. All three of my older brothers somehow managed to avoid having to go to the military, so it was all up to me, the least athletic person in the family. A few years ago my time had finally come and I was called in for an inspection. I tried to somehow forcefully fail the health check so that I would disqualify from service. During the hearing test, I intentionally waited a long time after each beep before pressing the button to fake a hearing deficit. Apparently, this trick had already worked with a classmate of mine, but in my case, it only led to a downgrade and not a complete disqualification. So yeah, technically, I would have had to go to the military a few years ago (or done community service, which is also an option for people who don't want to go the military for moral reasons). Luckily, just a few months after I had gotten my results, they abolished compulsory military service in Germany, so I was spared from actually having to go there. Lucky me!
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!

Yes

That's why I had to rectify it
I think it's the norm to get those calls in the US. At least I got some. Just tell them no, hang up if they won't let up, and block their number if they're being really persistent and won't stop calling you.

If they call you, just start reciting the Navy Seal copypasta. Not only will you be left alone, they might never call you again #smw{:TUP:}
Officially a Mega Man addict.
Major thanks to Giga and Erik557 for the layout.
Nope... Not yet at least

Don't have an interest in joining the military anyway.
I got one once, when I was younger, I was so flaky talking to the dude they never called me back

If you don't want to join the military, don't feel bad about it, just be glad there are others out there who genuinely want to fight for your country and honor them. That sounds kind of cheesy but it's true.
I don't recall ever being contacted by a military recruiter, so I must be a wuss who is going nowhere in life. #smw{T_T}

Although I have had bouts of eczema in the past and deal with it to some extent normally. Having a chronic skin disorder or autoimmune disorder (arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, etc.) is supposedly an automatic DQ for the army, so I guess I don't have to worry about that if there is ever another draft. I'm not sure about the Navy or Air Force, though it seems like environmental conditions would be less harsh in those branches so maybe health requirements are a bit less stringent.

Just be a dick if you have to.
My layout has removed you.
So far, no, and hopefully it stays that way.

I wouldn't want to join the army/military simply because I hate war; the soldiers that go to fight are usually young men who have their whole lives ahead of them, which they often lose in a way so horrible I probably can't imagine it.

Not to mention money spent on killing each other could be better spent feeding the poor.
