A wild Hollow Thread appears!

As some may know, some years ago i made a thread during C3 to tell about this project. A lot happened since, the project was frozen quite some times due to lack of experience and money.

The inital group changed, i had to say bye to some that were not adding to the project, so then i've created Everlude, a new game team that shared the same dream. Hollow is a really ambitious project, so we decided to not touch it, not mess with it not knowing what we were doing. We created new projects, small games, simple ones, complex ones, research and study. We wrote down everything the game needed, and now, about 2 months ago, we decided to ressurrect it, rather, start it from scratch.

Sadly, I'm the only one in the team with advanced graphical experience and that can do some coding (Witch is not my focal area). So progress on it may come a bit slow until we find at least someone else to work with me in the art, but at least we are progressing.

To break some of the text, here are two really old screenshots:

As a little note, hollow is made of Ink, so it is weak against water, and rain is no exception ;)

Here is also an equally old video: VIDEO LINK!

-The Story-

Hollow is a creature of ink, that woke up for the first time in the middle of nowhere. It wandered in a vast green field until it arrived an old windmill, where hollow found a small little friend that would help him throughout his unknown path.

The story may seem a bit simple and innocent at first, but as the game progress, it will grown into something extremely complex and mature. It's something we are really excited about.

-The Gameplay-

The game is a puzzle sidescrolling with some pieces of platforming and fast thinking. You control both characters at the same time, and each have their own skills that will be "upgraded" as the game progress.

Hollow can walk, jump, push objects and so on, the casual platform character with some new features, like the ability to interact with paintings in various different ways. He's also the only character that can be hurt.

The Eye can float around and can draw shapes to create different objects to aid hollow. But he can only do so if he have some spare Ink!

-The characters-

Hollow is a inocent creature of ink, he woke up without a clue of what he -or the world around him- is.
His empty nature makes him curious about the world, but sadly, it also makes him unable to understand anything it sees.
He's instintive and unowing, and will actually never come to know anything.

The Eye is a curious floating creature capable of staining the sky with ink.
He can brush away forms and create all sort of things.
Hollow found him laying under a green hat at an abandoned windmill.

(EDIT: since it's a bit confusing to read, i'll reffer to hollow and The Eye as "he". But actually it's more appropriate to reffer as "It")

And there is him.

I can't dive too much without giving away too much ;)

And that's it. Feel free to leave any questions or feedback about the project. Hope you all like it.

Wow, great art!
Really like the Artstyle. You didn't show much of Gameplay tho. I'll look forward to it anyways. Good job!

Yeah, gameplay is a hard thing to show right now. I'm not an expert programmer, and most of the time i just prototype really rough things. The game is also "fresh new (Since it it was "reseted"), and the art style it have take quite a while make, sooo yeah, it's hard for me to do art AND programming at once.

As a side note:

There is the older versions of the main character, the first one being used in early beta testing. The choice for 3D, that i just finished modeling this week, is due to being easier to animate. But there is still other 2D animation choices i want to test before going too far in 3D ;)

I ended up mistaking the timing of that other project with this one, so I apologize for that :P

Still though, the characters were decently drawn and it became clear you're making a lot of effort on developing it. Great work as you always do!
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
I remember this project. It looks promising. From that video and what you wrote it gives me the vibe of the classic dark indie platforming like Limbo or Nihilumbra.
Thank you guys. And yes, it is supposed to be a dark themed indie ;)
