Jesus christ, it sure has been a while.

--> Gameplay teaser viewable here. <--

- focuses on shorter, more difficult areas and quick gameplay
- features an area-based retry system (made by worldpeace125)
- to-do: timer and "best time" to encourage speedrunning
- demo tbd

I wanted to work with something I hadn't really experimented with, so I decided to fool around with the Kirby bomb blocks that were floating around the block section. They're pretty flexible, and I've enjoyed using them.

And, most importantly, hi.

(Note to self: Never try to make a thread at like 5:30AM.)

This is amazing so far! It really feels like Super Meat Boy. Is this going to be a full hack or a 1-level-thing?

woah hi

Looks dope. I like the shorter level fast reset approach, cuz then you can make very difficult levels without it becoming overly frustrating (see VVVVVV, super meat boy, N) so it's cool to see a hack doing that.

oh shit hey

wickedly nice ideas here. loved how the third room essentially became totally different once you hit the bomb block ("rebuilt" itself with falling grey platforms). great song choice too.
Looks really cool, how long do you plan on making this?
Your layout has been removed.
hi

I'm surprised something like this hasn't been done before, it looks really cool and fun! Your aesthetic skill helps it a lot too.
I'm not sure what your plans are but I think a single level with no map and a sucession of themes (with more lives given) would be super cool, but that's just a little suggestion.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
Hey, look who's back!

I didn't know you actually hacked stuff. Looks good so far NoelYoshi, hope you're here to stay.
Like others have said it's very Super Meat Boy-esque
(Well looking at that games Retro themed levels anyway...)

It looks really simple but complex all at the same time. Focusing on a certain gimmick and thinking of different ways to use is really impressive.

I like the vanilla-style with the visuals. Awesome work.

Is it going to be a full hack with other gimmicks or something short or sweet? Either way I look forward to seeing more of this.
welcome back

That bomb gimmick is just dope and those mini puzzles are even great. I like your aesthetical skills, too.
The retry system was a nice addition in case you somehow screwed up and made the level less frustrating. Can't wait to play!
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
This is extremely neat with really clever ideas!
Looks really cool. I've always liked hacks/games that consist of short and quick puzzle-esque areas and I don't think there are enough of those around here. Can't wait to play it! #ab{:D}

I was going to say it almost reminded mne of JUMP, with how the gimmicks get used to make the level really hard but still very well done nonetheless. Where did ya find that door that is in fact affected by the force that Newton discovered that holds us all down?

I want to do 4-5 main "levels", along with 2-3 hidden "levels". I don't want to make it too long to where either myself or the player will lose steam and interest, but not too short to where there are a lot of missed opportunities for design and variety. Right now, I think it's looking to be a 4/2 ratio.

Right on the site! I think it was Davros' old door sprite.

I originally was going to do this, but I decided against it because I want to have some hidden levels. The OW use will most likely still be minimal, though. I dunno, I might go back on my word and try the single level approach.
