Ever been called a weeaboo?

I feel like this belongs in the RC, but its mostly related to anime so I thought I'd post it here.

If you don't know what a weeaboo is, this video does a good job of explaining it.

So at my school (even by my friends online), I get called a weeaboo a lot. People say it as a joke, which was funny at first until it was happening constantly to the point where it was just annoying. My main issue with this is when people call me that, when they themselves don't even know what the word means.

For example, a kid called me a weeb, I asked him to define it, and he said "that's hard to define," so someone else defined it for him. It doesn't bug me as much as it used to (otherwise I wouldn't put "professional weeaboo" in my title), but its just kind of annoying.

So have any of you get called a weeaboo when you just really like anime and/or Japan? Does it annoy you?
no because I only partake in american made activities

also because i barely watch anime ever
I don't really watch much anime lol. I used to be in a class, where many people watched anime. So no.

Yeah, often but I don't really care since most people say it jokingly lol
I don't watch much anime but ye

I blame my RPG (the J kind that is) and Digimon addictions

I think? But i didn't care since it's either as a joke or a really bad try to offend me.
Not to mention while i have loads of anime avatars and layouts i don't really watch animes that often, i'm mostly interested in the art style.

Never been called a weeb, but I've been called a psychopath :D

I call others weebs because I don't see the harm in it... to me it just means like a really into-it otaku. My sense of humor is usually a sarcastically offensive/disproportional but really love ya bro no homosex kind of thing. Weeaboo is just too damn funny-sounding of a word for me to even imagine as offensive in the first place lmao

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
I am, whenever I mention I watch anime. Seriously, I say the tons of things I like when I talk to people, for instance, but the moment I say "anime" they think I'm a disgusting pedo that watches anime 24/7 or something (unless said person is an adult that has little/no idea what anime even is). Thankfully it doesn't happen very often.
Nope. And I frankly don't care.

I'm not really into anime or manga, so I'm not a weeaboo by any definition. But here are a few things I've been called online and in real life:

Weirdo
Babe
Nerd
Freak
Honey
Dear
Dude
Hippie
Slacker
Conspiracy theorist
Idiot
Twerp
Dick
A@@hole
Dummy
Scholar
Rockhound
Geography buff
Geology buff
Film buff
Waste of life
Pervert

only realized too late that I already posted in here but w/e

A few times, which is weird considering I'm not really into anime outside of Digimon, JoJo, mecha (Gundam, Eva, Macross, etc) and some darker stuff like GitS, Utena, Lain, Psycho Pass and Cowboy Bebop. I've thought about getting into manga and comics (and by extent, manhwa and such) someday. I prefer reading over watching. Also I want an excuse to become an X-Men fan just for Beast lel (sexual tyrannosaurus)

I guess I could be seen as having a few weeb-ish tendencies???
I use Japanese every now and then, I am way into banchou/sukeban and yankii shit, I'm way into JRPGs (I've been meaning to try WRPGs like Fallout 1&2, Vampire, Planescape Torment, Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age and so on) and I have a small fascination with Japanese SMW hacks (some of them have a very charming jankyness to them like say, Sonic Adventure 1, FFVIII and SaGa Frontier)?

Though I unironically like Vocaloid so I guess that settles that lol

Mostly Meiko, Kaito, Miku, Rin+Len, Luka, Gumi, Prima, Miriam and a few UTAU like Teto, Shiki Taigen and Lacan Giga though. Haven't really had the time to check out the recent ones like Lapis and such.

If having sushi as one of your favorite foods automatically makes you a weeb I'm moving to Saturn lol, that stuff is delicious

Only once, I didn't even knew what it was.
It was just because of some drawing I made, which didn't had anything to do with weeaboo stuff. lol
It's also kinda ironic looking back, because I was pretty much a kind of canaboo (some type of weirdo obsessed with Canada for...whatever the reason, and yeah, I just made up this word), and a somewhat almost shitty westaboo, which is basically the opposite.

Several people at my school have called me a weeaboo, simply because I like Japanese music and have extremely obsessive interests.

Otaku covers "obsessive interests", yet they don't realise that. Nor do people that brand themselves that because it is an insult.

Though I think it doesn't help I also have had crushes on mostly characters made in Japan: Cammy, Touko, to name a few. Amy Rose counts toward this, too. As well, simply the fact I've watched the first episode of Hyperdimension Neptunia's anime - and have said on numerous occasions: "All my love are belong to George and my waifu. Nobody else. Real people have no chance to survive make their time with me.", that is the full version of what I say, though almost always it is truncated to only the first sentence.

I also particularly hate the weeaboo word. Wapanese (The old term) sounds much better as a slang and clearly meant "Wannabe Japanese", Weeaboo is from a fucking word filter on 4chan and is now deemed the main word, even though it is a fucking stupid word. It gets on my nerves so much, the truncated word "weeb" is even worse.

But weeaboos are actually extremely rare to come by, you have to actually try to act Japanese (and fail hilariously) in all your personality to become one.

(Also, secret: I wish I could kiss Blanc...)

Not to offend, but I think that after saying something like that, one can hardly act surprised to be called a 'weeaboo'. I'm aware that it's a Zero Wing reference, but people could have easily not gotten that (heck, even I had to double-check to get the reference because of how you changed it). In general, people probably aren't calling you a 'weeaboo' just for liking Japanese media, but for putting on an obviously anti-social personality (regardless of whether you meant it earnestly or as a joke).

Keep in mind that people at school and stuff aren't necessarily tuned in to the same internet culture as you are. What seems to you like a clever reference might just be taken as 'WTF is this guy saying?' by others not in on the joke. From your post, I'm not really clear on if you're bothered by your classmates' attitudes towards you or not, but if you are, that's definitely something to consider.
Evil flower of Pure Illusion... we're going to pluck you out!
I kind of mean that as a way of saying that I am going to remain single - and loyal to what I already love, living or not.

In fact, most people I know have heard the phrases because a few people I know use them because of me. One of them played the "All Your Base" song when blowing up his friend's base in Minecraft Factions on his headset.

I make out I'm not particularly bothered about what people think of me offline/online when I actually do, to the extent I regularly search my name paired with any insults to see if people are back stabbing me elsewhere.

(For some reason, almost universally, I'm lied to when I speak to them mostly all of the time.)

I take that back. I actually classed myself as "Wapanese trash" on my own board, so that goes to show it.
