Steven Universe

I watched this when the first episode had come out(and the few episodes after) and I don't really even know what to think of it. I guess it's a good show, but it's not really something I'd watch.
Because it's the kind of show that gets better in the latter episodes, yet you have to watch the early episodes because it relies heavily on continuity.

Of course that's why it isn't for everyone.
i just lurk sometimes
So, hiatus until 2016 *sobs*

All I can say is
I just love Peridot now

i just lurk sometimes
Hey, is anyone watching Steven's Birthday Bomb?

The Answer just aired.
The backgrounds throughout the whole episode were great! The background artwork is always good on SU, but it really stuck out this time. I couldn't help but be disappointed at the vague, low-detailed gem characters, though. I hope we get to see more of Blue Diamond's Pearl. She was one of the few new gems to be fully drawn-out and detailed, so I guess she makes a reappearance. Also, Rose's attitude toward the newly fused Garnet was a little awkward, where she's all "Wow! You must be really interesting!". Sort of condescending. She seems overall well-meaning, but it reminded me of We Need to Talk, where she talked about how she found humans so funny and adorable.

Apparently, there's spoilers out there for the other episodes this week, which is pretty lame. It's only a few more days. Don't spoil Dogcopter 4!

It isn't really necessary to get into details about these characters since all it really was is just the explanation of how Ruby and Sapphire met. If any particular character was left a little undetailed, it would give the idea that their role in the story is rather minor, as is the case with both Yellow Diamond's pearl and Blue Diamond's pearl. The idea it feels like the writers are trying to present is that there are many pearls, many Rubies, and just many other gems than just the Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst that we mainly know. Also, Rose being excited about Garnet was pretty justified given the reaction all the other people in Blue Diamond's court were in complete disgust. It was clearly something that gems are greatly discouraged to do, that being fusion with other gems whom are not the same as themselves. This episode did more for explaining fusion than the episode that introduced it.

Well since all 5 episodes are out of the way:

Steven's Birthday < It could've been great < Log Date 7 15 2 < The Answer < Message Received

Fuck, those last three were hard to pick favorites for, I liked all three too much. Steven's Birthday was....okay. It isn't that I want every episode to be plot related, it is perfectly fine for random stuff, but this one just about something that was kind of cringey honestly. It could've Been Great was purely just lead-up to Message Received but still a nice episode. My strong opinion for Log Date 7 15 2 will probably end up being less shared with others on the reasoning that I love Peridot as a character, and this episode along with Message Received did a lot with her. I am probably holding this one back though since it is more of the aftermath of Message Received. The Answer was a great episode for Ruby and Sapphire along with Homeworld Gems in general. It subtly provided a lot of detail about fusion and the gem's opinions of it (the spoiler tag above is relating to this episode). Lastly, Message Received, as I mentioned about while talking about Log Date, did a lot with Peridot....That's all I really want to say about it. Hard to describe that episode without blatant spoiling.
Blue Pearl best Pearl, followed by Yellow Pearl, then Earth Pearl.

Giraffe Mom is best mom.

Lapidot is canon.

On a more serious note, hiatus again. Reason why I don't bother with this thread. The Answer's first half was cool, I didn't care much for the song. Steven's Birthday was interesting, but suffered from Status Quo Syndrome.
Too bad since Zach Callison's normal voice is hot
. It Could've Been Great was great, but the 11 minutes it had was kinda short. The Message was the best of all them. Yellow Pearl being voiced by Deedee Magno Hall means Blue Pearl will be voiced by Deedee as well...I don't know what to feel about. Log Date 7 15 2 was super cute. It kinda feels janky with how it is placed after It Could've Been Great and the Message, but I see what they were going for.
Okay, I recently decided to give this show a go. I'm not 45 episodes in, so I'm almost done with season 1 and holy shit. This is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite shows. Starting off it seemed like a standard run-of-the-mill comedy with nice art and character designs, but over time it shifted into telling a much larger story. Things that I had assumed were just one-off plot elements and settings that were created for a single episode turn out to be important to the world the show has created. Characters are likable and believable. I appreciate their flaws and can really sympathize with them, such as when
Pearl is upset about losing her best friend Rose
or when it's shown that the Gems don't always know the answers. It makes me think of that moment we all have where we realize that our parents aren't perfect. They make mistakes, but they just try their best for us.

I've never experienced Western animation that made me sympathize with and feel for the characters as deeply as I am. I love this show.

I think the show started off like that just show they could get the audience used to the characters and the town where the gems live.
*honk*

The intention is that Pearl saw her as more than just a friend actually

Thus why she was so cold towards Greg

That ep even got slightly edited in the UK to make Pearl's crush on Rose less obvious lol

Was Ruby and Sapphire's kiss censored there, I wonder...

Yeah, I was getting that implication it may have been more than just a close friendship, but I wasn't sure.

Also I already got spoiled that Garnet is Ruby & Sapphire fused even though I haven't gotten that far yet. On the flipside, it was funny to me that when Steven tries to fuse (before successfully doing it with Connie), one of the Gems remarks that fusion is hard, only for Garnet to say, "Not for me."
I watched the season 1 finale. I had heard it was good and had a good song, but it honestly exceeded my expectations. I was previously spoiled on the reveal, but I don't know if I really enjoyed it less than I would have if I hadn't been.
I like this show for the same reason I like Frozen. Cartoon Network has been putting out mediocre content for the past few years, then they finally made something golden.

This is just my personal opinion, but ever since Adventure Time came out on Cartoon Network, it really started to go downhill for me. Adventure Time is good, don't get me wrong, but I don't like it as much as the stuff I grew up with (which was during the Chowder/Flapjack/Total Drama era).

I actually didn't discover Steven Universe until just a few days ago when I saw it listed in a Top 10 video about Cartoon Network. Personally I think the show is really good. The animation is nice, the characters are great
Garnet is best gem
, and it reminds me a little bit of some of the shows I used to watch on Cartoon Network back in the day.

I watched the first 20 episodes over the weekend. The nice thing about the show is that its very easy to binge watch since the episodes are so short.

Overall, great show so far. Can't wait to finish it.
Adventure Time was the down-point for you? You were perfectly fine with CN Real?
Adventure Time was the turning point in a good way for me. Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball, and now Steven Universe are all fantastic.

Anyway, Undertaker, you're about to reach the really interesting stuff so you'll probably start liking it even more.

To be honest, when my friend introduced me to Steven Universe, he showed me
Stronger Than You
, so I pretty much had the whole "
Garnet is a fusion
" thing spoiled from the start. It never really ruined anything for me, and I guess it's very hinted at anyways, so it wasn't any big deal.

Also, I'm really hyped for the Summer of Steven. I just find it a bit odd that Season 3 is started early...
Officially a Mega Man addict.
Major thanks to Giga and Erik557 for the layout.

Yeah, Adventure time is good, but I didn't see it until like, four years after it came out (strict parents). It didn't really live up to the hype for me, but its still a good show regardless.
Plus I love how Joe DiMaggio does the voice of Jake seeing as he also did the voice of Bender.

Yeah, I'm gonna watch more Steven Universe soon.
See, I had no idea this thread existed until now and I'm sad.
I have some leaks, tell me if you want to post them. #tb{;)}
already know about them but if you really feel that you should, just let the other people be aware of it.

Which ones have you seen?
After basically four months, we're getting some new episodes on May 12th.

Nice
