Patching SM64 hacks

Hola, si necesitas ayuda en español, puedes pedirla en aquí, el resto del sitio es de habla inglesa.

(just pointed him to the Spanish subforum).
Sorry for being offtopic again, but I think something should be done:

The subforum aj linked sent to the international SMW subforum.

But here is a SM64 forum, no wonder why he replied here, he wanted to get help for SM64, not for SMW?

Maybe move these forum to a brand new category that says just: ¨"International hacking" thingy?

I don't think there is something wrong to post in an English forum if it's to ask a small question like he did. There is always someone who can translate.

:)

It's actually morphed into a "general international talk" forum. I still think that it should be moved to its own category or something.

Back on topic now.
I went up to 8mb and the rom does not work either :(

Answer, pls
Um Hey guys I'm really new to hacking and the forums, so basically I need help.I downloaded a clean SM64 rom & I used rom extender and patched the extended rom with ppf omatic.I also set my Project 64 Emulator to 8MB like I'm suppose to,Problem Is when I load my extended rom in PJ64 It just stays black and I notice the FPS start at 60fps & go down to about 5 FPS and still nothing shows up.I'm trying to play star road by the way.I'm also using project 64 1.6
I can't find the pps -o- matic tool and when I click the link, it takes me to an error page.

You can download it here: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/356/

You don't need that tool anymore, the sm64 level importer 1.9.3 automatically prepares your rom and has a built in patching tool.

I got bored so I thought I'd play a couple of SM64 hacks to tide the time. However, it seems that no matter what I do, the screen stays white after I select a save slot.

Here's what I did:

1) Downloaded Project64 1.6, M64ROMExtender1.3b, and ppf-o-matic3 (the latter 2 from the OP's post)
2) Downloaded a clean SM64 ROM (I tried Super Mario 64 (U) [!].z64 and Super Mario 64 (USA).n64).
3) Extended the ROM through M64ROMExtender1.3b, and then patched the patch through ppf-o-matic3 on the extended ROM.
4) Went to the settings in Project64 1.6, enabled the advanced settings, and then changed the Default Memory Size to 8 MB under the Advanced settings.
5) Loaded up the ROM, and then went to the ROM Settings and changed the Memory Size to 8 MB as well.

It works fine - the title and save screen shows up just fine. However, when I pick a save slot to begin, the game just hangs up on a white screen and doesn't proceed beyond that point.

The games I'm trying to patch are this and this.

The only conclusion is that the two ROMs I tried aren't actually clean, but I just wanted to check and see if anyone had an idea of what went wrong and how I can fix it before I search some more as there's an endless resources of ROMs to choose from on the Internet.

I know this thread is pretty old, but I have a HUGE problem. When I run the extender, my computer freezes. I tried 1.3b, and 1.2b, with the same result. Does anyone have a solution?

I've never had problems with the M64 ROM Extender hanging, but one workaround is to use sm64extend (disclaimer: I am the author). It doesn't have a fancy GUI, but it has defaults that are bit-compatible with 64MB extended ROM. You can either drag and drop a ROM on it or run it from the command line. If you need a different size extended ROM (like 24MB), you can specify that on the command line:

I have downloaded the Organ of Matrias ppf. If I patch it directly and change my settings to 8MB it gives the permanent loop message (and also displays the ROM name as ROAGRNFOM TAIRSA). If I extend it before patching then change my settings to 8MB then the name is fine and there is no error message but all I can see is a black screen.

Can someone please help? Is there anything else I need to do to the ROM? (The ROM I am using has a filename of Super Mario 64 (USA).n64, and I use Project64).

Edit: I did the exact same for Star Revenge 6. The title screen works fine but I just get a white screen after opening a save file.

Unless otherwise stated, 8MB ROMs will need to be extended before applying a patch. For Organ of Matrias, I recommend 48MB, but the default size may work as well. Regarding the byte encoding, I recommend using "Super Mario 64 (U) [!].z64" just so no byte-swapping needs to be performed, but sm64extend should work with any input byte encoding and it outputs z64 encoding.

Which version of PJ64 are you using? For 2.x, you may need to load the ROM, set the memory size to 8MB and then reload the ROM.
I am now using the recommended ROM. I can now view the title screen but again I get a white screen when opening a file.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could give me a single BPS for Organ of Matrias or Star Revenge 6 (and 6.5) instead of having to use a long series of tools.

I'd get a clean ROM before doing anything.
Nice bump too.
