All Hail Megamole

Seems I'm the first to get my VLDC level done, so I might as well make a thread for it.


The start of the level. The theme is pretty much underground ruins.


Watch out!


You can ride the Mega Moles to get the Yoshi Coin or just kill them.


Thankfully, Volcano Lotuses are rare.


Now you HAVE to ride the Mole, and it might be a good idea to have pressed the Green Switch.

This looks neat! I like the gimmick of riding the mega moles.

(Also, I ain't so sure about the 'first to get my VLDC level done'... I finished mine about 9 hours ago #tb{:p} )

Looks really great. Mario's cape can probably wreak havoc though as flying can get you places.

Maybe you actually wanna make this yoshi coin optainable even without the switch palace blocks. I'm all for using them but for people who want to get all the coins it could be annoying to see they have to return to a level after pressing a switch to get that one coin. Like, maybe place one cement block there and have the rest green ! blocks.
Just a thought.


Telling solid and transparent blocks apart could be a little difficult like this, no? Unless you only ever use those transparent blocks with the mega mole statues.

I REALLY wanted to suggest this too, but I was afraid that it would backlash for me. :( I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt that the Green Switch Blocks weren't really necessary.

Since Yoshi Coins are just to give the player 1-ups, I would say make it obtainable without having to require something outside this level.

For instance, if this was an ice level, you could make it to where the only way to get the Yoshi Coin is to melt a barricade of ice blocks AS LONG as you can get the Fire Flower powerup in the level, not from transferring the item from another level.

I would say the only exception to this is if the Yoshi Coin was a collectible for special levels, worlds, etc.


You can keep it this way if you want, but keep in mind that the Yoshi Coins are to help the player get a 1-up and like JackTheSpades said:

@JackTheSpades, I always did like the idea of rewarding the player in some way for finding and pressing the Switches when they're used in a hack, and one way I do so is by placing Yoshi Coins in such a way that the player must press the Switch. As for those passable steps made from the same tiles as the solid blocks, they're always used with Mega Mole Statues and are never seen solo.

Of course, the Green Switch Palace must be created, also there must be Yellow, Red and Blue Switch palaces like in previous VLDCs, and I know I will make this Green Switch palace, i think.
