Will the base be updated when people submit levels?
Probably only during the overworld contest so people can design overworlds properly.

So does this mean I can't use custom palettes unless I fully change every color? I don't see the point of this, if so.

(Chances are I just don't understand what that's supposed to mean)

That has nothing to do with custom palettes, it has to do with GFX recoloring. I think what that means is, for example, you have an object that uses colors 1, 2 and 3. You can't recolor it so it uses colors A, 2 and 3, you have to change all 3 colors accordingly. So in this case it would use colors: A, B and C.

I'd like someone to confirm this, please.
Glad you decided to keep SA-1, I had a bunch of ideas earlier that involve large amounts of sprites.
Providing a baserom is pretty nice of you, too!

Actually, it means that if you wanted to replace color 1 with A, you'd have to replace every pixel that uses color 1 with color A. I guess it's kind of misleading though.
How would I participate?

Example. Look at the dark green pixels.

Where do we claim Map16 pages and sublevels?
If we're submitting .mwl and related files, what's the purpose of the .ips? I feel like I'm missing something huge here...
Edit: Actually a more serious question; what versions of snes9x will play the ROM correctly? The current version I have (which has run SA-1 games before, iirc) gives bootup information in yellow and then freezes on a black screen.
I really need a layout. :<
I want to use this layer 3 in the level. But I'm not exactly sure if I can, can you use it in level?

I don't think so because it uses chocolate tiles. I don't even know it those are allowed.

You don't have to sign up for any resources.
And the fact that the rules say "please use top half of page 3 for map16" should answer your question.

You are allowed to edit the palettes however you like, which seems to be what you're asking here.

No, you are only allowed to convert existing graphics from the ROM to layer 3 graphics (go to YY-CHR, open the graphics you want in 4bpp, copy them, paste them in a 2bpp graphics file)

So that I don't have to go through 80 levels and export them all myself, I'm giving each of you 1 minute of work instead of one and a half hours of work for me.
