Mario Gives Up 3

So I decided to release this hack 5 days prior to my estimated release date, not bad! This is my last hack (I mean it this time!) because there's pretty much nothing left for me to do here. I have created eight hacks in about nine years. My last full length hack was Mario Gives Up 2, and that was about 2-3 years ago. I have become especially attached to this game, like a kid of my own (as lame as that may sound haha) but it's something I created with careful planning and spent a ton of time and effort to craft from scratch.

Hopefully my time on smwcentral was entertaining for you guys. This hack is like my last big hoorah for everyone who wanted it. Thank you for all the support and beyond. I couldn't have made this without the players like you, and the website to help me create my all my hacks.

But anyways, I hope you enjoy playing this hack as much as I did making it!

Aww...this thread is ignored. Kinda surprised since it's a new installment in MGU series!

Anyways, nice work cypher. Love the ninja outfit, and the level design. However, one thing that has bugged me is that it's missing the classic MGU teasing. You know, how the message boxes taunts the player in one way or another. Not a big deal, though.

Also, nice FNAF level, but it's too short. That may be a problem for some people. It's fine for me, because I'm terrified of FNAF.
Yay another FNAF level.
Can't wait to start playing! #smw{:TUP:}
This hack is quite a blast. I downloaded last night and have had a great time with it so far. I'm not sure when I last had so much fun with an SMW hack. As OmegaYoshi said, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of the messages that the previous games had. That's a bit disappointing because both of the other games got a lot of the character from their text.

My only real complaint, though, is that some of the levels feel like their time limits are too short (such as Ruins.) I'm also stumped where Desert Mounds's secret exit is (I found the key, but not the keyhole.)

Having trouble opening "Castle8" zip.
Inside the castle I found 7 bloody letters spelling EBSYSOK and a secret room with message "ITOZZO WATCHES" Nothing is correct...

All other zips are already opened.

How you did it? I tried EBSYSOK and it says "not valid password".
It's an anagram, perhaps?
Well, this looks nice. Too bad I have to play through the first two hacks to probably understand this one #ab{:P}

Nice 1400th post, btw.

Yes, it is.

So far I've been playing through the first two worlds, and I have to admit that I am kinda disappointed.

What I loved about the first two MGUs was the level design (-variation). There were neat ideas implemented in every level. Your line guide levels were the most outstanding ones I had ever seen.

Sadly, this isn't the case with MGU3 so far. The level design is still solid, but it doesn't feel as good as in the prequels to me. The levels of the first worlds seem too short sometimes (
for example the first castle
) to really develop with their design. While the aesthetics and level themes have more variation now and generally improved, the gameplay itself has become very generic and without much focus.

I'm guessing you wanted to have a better difficulty curve this time, so you started with easier levels. Sadly they turned out to be not that interesting to play for me. I will continue playing this hack when I find the time and see if the impression will change later!

So yeah, I am not saying it is a bad hack (or bad first two worlds) just that I am not as impressed as with the prequels. I wish you the best of luck with further development of this hack and hope you will fix some bugs that have already been mentioned #tb{^V^} ~

I guess this is what it's like to have the bar set really super high, and extreme expectations.

Hey I played MGU3 and it's very good! Levels are OK, especially ninja Mario graphics. But one problem is that I can't pass trhough orange exclamation barriers, have you got a solution for this entrance?

You have to find all the other exits in the hack in order to play the 6 special levels.
Okay.

How do I get a secret exit in level "Pipeline"?

In the level Pipeline, you have to find all 5 Mario Coins, and the beat the level normally. After you do that, go back in the level. There should be a door. Go inside the door, and after getting through some more enemies, the secret exit should be there.

Hope this helped.
Ok. I'll do it.

Nice hack Cypher! Fun levels and gimmicks, nice musics and backgrounds, this finishes the MGU trilogy very well. I'm pretty sure when Lunar Magic gets updated again you'll be pumped up to make the 4th game. The last 3 days playing this were awesome! :D

..but it still can't open the Castle 8.zip file. :( I understand the code, but anything I try don't open it (all caps, all lowercase, no space, etc). Can someone please PM me how to properly write that to unzip the file?
...and then unit 5-CRT3 said "Who you think I am, unit 7-YXE2? HAHAHAHA!!!"
For those who want to know the password of Castle 8.zip file, here are my hints:

1.
Ingore the secret room which you need to hit a P switch to enter, it creates a creepy atmosphere but not really related;

2.
The password is a 4 digital word. The scattered 7 bloody letters "EBSYSOK" are providing you useful information. The password is the answer of an anagram puzzle and the answer will lead you to the password of the zipped file.

If you still don't get it, you are welcomed to PM me:)
