[Cancelled] Super Mario Bros: World-e Adventure.

Standard

New Ability!

Tanooki Statue Mode now have the ability to see hidden things! #tb{^V^}

See how this is useful? #tb{^V^}

Inner Maze is probably the hardest level being designed for this remake #tb{^^}. This is why it's taking some more time to progress to next levels.
So I won't post much details for now.

Also, let's see some layer 3 test of Aqua Bars of Doom:

Also, I though that letting player go trough Wild Ride In The Sky (First World-e level) would be a nontraditional to start a Mario game, so I made a custom intro level called:

The Prologue

It's a short level demonstrating some mechanics of game. Features Layer 3 Clouds.

Enjoy #w{<3}

Hmm, is it in SMBX
at 6th hidden star
?
When I played that level, I retried and retried until I clear that...

I think it's a good idea, but I have a little fear of invisible block.
This is looking so great!
I'm looking forward to see more from you.
I loved the gimmick with the Tanooki Suit.
I wonder how you do this? Level ASM? Triggers?
I'm impressed.

I never played SMBX, so I can't confirm if it is the same thing or not xD
There's no need to have fear, it's secure xD

Basically triggers. Also I modified some code from powerup patch to make this work.
I'm getting SMB3 World 4 vives from that intro level, it looks so pretty, specially with that gradient.

About the invisible tanooki blocks, you could leave a message box somewhere that at leasts hints their existence, in case someone can't figure it out.

...You're gonna use message blocks, right?
I would like to announce that the first half of Mushroom World-E levels are fully ported. There are some things here and there to polish, but the main level design is done! #smw{:TUP:}

To celebrate this, here we have two new videos showing Tropical Splash and Spike Castle a Go-Go levels!

e-15 Tropical Splash

e-16 Spike Castle a Go-Go!

Some parts of Tropical Splash has been redesigned to fit SMW screen size.

Since there is no way to carry Kuribo's Shoe trough pipes, I had to edit a bit of the level design to fit the SMW limitations.

There are lots of things to polish from old levels.

Also, I will release a demo for C3, containing the first 15 levels from the hack, including the Prologue Level.

There are some gimmicks I requested that I'm waiting to be done. And it seems that I can't make news levels until they are fully implemented.

I will probably add somewhere a hint about this!

Enjoy! #smw{:TUP:}
Is there news about this hack?#tb{:?}

I would like to play this hack.#tb{D:}
Well, I have some things to announce about the current project. The most important change that happened in these weeks is that this hack could be much more than just remaking SMA4 World-e Levels. Then, I decided to add to the game my own levels. World-e Levels will appear in game as the game progress, just like any normal level.

The reason for doing this that the world-e level order doesn't make any sense, there are very difficult levels in the first e-Levels and easier levels in the latest e-Levels, also, the ambience is very mixed. So i decided to put these levels in an order that makes more sense in an Mario universe.

So, don't expect the final product anytime soon, there's a lot of work to do. I plan to release a demo for C3, but I'm not promising anything.

Here it is a few screenshots from World 1:

Also, I'm remaking the whole overworld from scratch.

I'm really undecided about the overworld border. Should I keep the original one from SMW or keep the SMB3 one as the border?

Also, with the help of someone very special, I managed to do this:

So... This will be just an original Mario hack with World-e levels just as a bonus? Like Super Mario Bros. 3 Reloaded?

SMB3 Border, definitly. The SMW border just seem out of place with this type of hack.
I believe it would be closer to SMB3X, in the sense of having like, 3-4 levels influenced by the E-reader "world".

I'm all out for new levels. The game would be around 42 levels
as it is and there's barely any relation between levels (save 2 ones, I think), so I don't see any problem with that.

About the overworld, I also think the SMB3 border would fit better, but with a different palette.
I would use the SMB3 border since it would look out of place to have the SMW border in a SMB3 type hack.

I've never played original e-Reader levels, so I guess I'll enjoy a lot playing this when done as now you say the hack is also going to include exclusive levels. Design looks nice by looking at the screenies.

By the way, SMB3 overworld border looks best.

Hello, guys, first I would like to thank everyone for all the support I got in all of these months of hacking, but I'm announcing that this hack is going to enter on a hiatus. I'm not sure how much time it will take to me to get back to this project, but probably it won't happen until the middle of this year.

For some reason I lost interest in continuing this hack now, but I'm fairly sure that I will return to it someday; And when this happens I'll make sure it will be enjoyable to everyone! xD

Also, I would like to apologize for not appearing on C3, like I said that I would do. I just found myself in some personal problems, and the second reason, for me it seemed that there wasn't enough interest in releasing a C3 demo of this project. So I kept my energy doing other enjoyable things...

And again, thanks everyone for all the support! This is not the end of the project, I'm only taking a long break, and hopefully I will return to it soon~

Cheers #smw{:TUP:}
This hack is still in works, after months of inactivity xD

Hopefully I'll have something to show for next C3 this time #tb{^V^}

Frappé Snowland, Pipe Maze and 60 Seconds

Haunted Hall, Spiral Tower and Koopahari Desert

Currently I'm only working on Level Design stuff, I have done 80% of the layout of the majority of levels, still needing some ideas for some tricky levels, but hopefully I'll have some idea to deal with that.

After that I'll need to work on bugfixes and Custom Sprite inserting, which will probably take a lot of time, then I'll see if there's enough room for extra levels of my own idea #tb{^V^}

Don't you mean Slip Slidin' Away, Puzzling Pipe Maze, and Castle Dash?

Again, don't you mean Vexing Doors, A Towering Tour, and Ground Work?

What I'm trying to say that in the interim of your hiatus, Nintendo released SMA4 on Virtual Console, and it had all of e-Reader levels, including the 26 that never made it out of Japan. Those 26 had been given new, official names, like No Time To Dawdle and It's a Shoe-In. I think this hack would be relevant if it had those names instead of the made-up ones we have been using for years.
Your layout has been removed.
I pretty much completely forgot they got new names.

It looks good, anyhow.

Ohh, that's completely news to me. I'm glad they released these levels for Virtual Console , at least now we have official names for all levels! Thanks for the advice!

By the way, anyone know where I can find all of the official names on Nintendo website?
Got it.
Since the levels have been released on the virtual console. maybe they could be given more than a slight edit but not enough that there
unrecognizable. but that's just what I think. good work
When will you be sharing Hacking Rom?
