Most of the information in this thread is severely outdated! Please see this for updated info!

-Same or easier difficulty levels than the original (first) Kaizo (yes, this means significantly easier than Banzai Mario World).

And for a title, I'd probably say Naitomeaa (nightmare in japanese) Mario World or something.

Liking this so far. I've seen countless Kaizo hacks that strive for being the easiest hacks ever made and end up raising the difficulty at the very end eventually due to indecisiveness, and knowing you, I'm pretty sure this one will also try to cater to everybody's tastes as did the original Kaizo Mario.

Regarding the name, I'm terrible at suggesting these, so I can't give you a clear idea of what to do. As for the language, I haven't seen too many Japanese hacks with that curve, but you could do one version in English and another one in Japanese if you're in doubt.
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
1/10 needs more cement blocks :P
Thanks for the feedback/suggestions everyone!

Yeah the problem with Banzai Mario World was that I was able to beat every level without savestates in a pretty short amount of time, but I realize after watching tons of people play it that the maker of the hack is naturally way better than everyone else at his own hack. So I will probably end up making what seems to me as "too easy" so that I won't accidentally increase the difficulty for everyone else.

Haha exactly. I know this is a joke but I actually was considering putting rows of cement blocks on the ceiling to recreate the original Kaizo feel, but I feel like this is a case of "just because the first one did it, doesn't mean everything else has to do it too".

So I'm gonna show some of the only level that is actually finished here. It's the one inspired by the mole level of Kaizo 3, which I think is an absolutely brilliant concept that was carried out not as well as it could have (he artificial difficulty of that level is insane). I had originally made this level (and hack) with the intent of collabing with Panga (and I still might, IDK what he wants to do) but Mario Maker is kinda what he's focused on now and possibly from now on, so this will probably be a solo project...

Sorry for the savestate thing in the screenshots, I forgot to change emulators when testing.

The concept of this level is based on this. In this level, it focuses on an aspect of this gimmick where items left on layer-2 blocks will seemingly fall out of the sky from the autoscroller pushing them, which makes for pretty unique puzzles.

I'm trying to keep the rainbow shells less frequent in this, or at least come up with more unique ideas, rather than the same concepts recycled. For example, here you have to avoid making baby yoshi hatch and eat the rainbow shell.

The next half is a bit harder and involves the grinder. It moves slower to the right and faster to the left, which makes for good puzzle situations.

The way that difficult sections like this will remain easy is by being extremely short.

You made these tiles by yourself?

Yep! I did it with yychr.
When you say vanilla palletes, was speaking of the Super Mario World's palettes or custom palettes?

Most of the palettes in the game will be vanilla, but I will change the palette occasionally to fix bad-looking graphics or slightly change something, but it will mostly look vanilla.
How about Unfairly Fair?

bad fairly unfair pun
"Vanilla Piece of Cake"
"World After Banzai"
"Kaizo Mario 0.8"
"Alive and Painful" or "Wishing for More" would be interesting names to use.

Super Mario World

That'd be a cool name for a hack
Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
I really wish I had progress to show right now, but I've been pretty busy. I'll try to post some screenshots soon.
So some important updates!

The name of this hack will be Super Linkdead World, after ldad of course, to carry on the tradition of naming. Since there isn't a hack for ldad yet, and ldad was the first person to ever beat Banzai Mario World without savestates, I'll be naming this hack after him.

Another update: lots of levels in production, but they are quite short.

Sneak peek of a new level:

Failed to take screenshot.

It looks decent but IMO the hills contrast with the blue sky a bit oddly, maybe think about changing the background color?
I think it looks fine.
