[NOT DEAD] The Final Fantasy World - Amalgamation Revived

Samus and Yukari decide to head south. When they reach what they could consider a landmark, an impassable line of thick trees to the south, they happen upon a puzzle, etched into stone. It's not stopping them in any way, it's just kinda there.

"Here, I think I can do this. I remember seeing puzzles like this before."

Samus works on the grid puzzle for a few, and finally solves it. She is not very pleased when she finishes it.

"A rice ball?! Why would anyone leave a pointless puzzle like this in the middle of the forest? All this did was waste our time..."

Major thanks to Giga and Erik557 for the layout.
Quickly head back, and place a warp on the tile I was on before, before heading off to uncharted lands.
Later.
Huh. A rice ball. Etched in stone. *sigh* Can... can we just move on to the tree?
Move on to the purple tile.
thx to e r i k for layout

"Yeah, lets keep moving. I'm ashamed I wasted my time on that..."

Samus continues with Yukari.

Not long after Samus finishes the puzzle, the trees blocking the way to the south thin out, as though life was being sucked directly out of them. You can now pass through that way.

Yukari and Samus head over to the largest tree in the forest, and find out why they call it the Living Forest. This tree has a face.

It seems to be shaking a little, and you can see some leaves fall every now and then. This is where the scream came from earlier, though, and you can still see the meteor hanging in its branches. It looks very hot, likely hot enough to cook something off of.

Eh. Not the weirdest thing I've seen in a while. (God, that 'Perfect Math Class' performance by Cirno...) But what does it do?

Get Ran to jump on Samus, Chen to jump on Ran, and jump up the resulting tower to analyse the meteor in close detail.
thx to e r i k for layout

Samus is able to keep standing with no problem, even when supporting three people. She looks up at Yukari.

"What do you see up there?"

It's a giant meteor. Still - ah! - hot from re-entry, and it is emanating a massive, almost oppressing amount of magical power... you're probably getting a bit uncomfortable down there, lemme jump off onto a branch and conduct more experiments.

Yukari jumps off onto a branch, unsummons Ran (who unsummons Chen), and takes out a portable SCIENCE kit to experiment on the meteor.
thx to e r i k for layout

*sigh* "If my Scan Visor was up at the moment, I might be able to get some information on the meteor..."

While Yukari is doing experiments on the meteor, Samus gets to work getting her Scan Visor up and running again.

Edit: fixed a typo.

*CRASH*
Oops. Uh, Samus, you okay down there? I seem to have dropped a meteor onto you. This may impede progress. Ran, can you and Chen get that thing off of her?

Yup.
thx to e r i k for layout

Samus gets hit with the meteor, knocking her down. Oddly enough, Samus's Scan Visor went online after she was hit.

"I'm all right. You actually unintentionally fixed my Scan Visor, so some good came out of that..."

Samus gets back up and hands Ran and Chen the meteor piece.

The tree roars in pain. It shakes quite violently, making Yukari fall out of the tree's lower branches, where she was examining the bottom of the meteor.

: "GET OFF! Do you have any idea how much that HURTS?!"

This is a thing that's happening, now. Achievements in old video games.
Thank you for the layout, Erik557.
Man, I wish this would've worked. Oh well.
If not for respect, but dramatic effect, take on the face of Guy Fawkes.
AGH IT BURNS AGH AGH AGH AGH
They quickly toss the meteor chunk away and run off to get treatment for their burns.

...magical talking tree with a face on it. This gets weirder and weirder.
thx to e r i k for layout
: "...shit. Right, well, yes, I can talk. And this meteor is very, very painful. I would appreciate you helping me to remove it, but NOT by climbing up my trunk."

"Well, Yukari, how should we go about removing the meteor? If I fired a Missile at it, the tree might get hurt, but I'm not sure...?
Officially a Mega Man addict.
Major thanks to Giga and Erik557 for the layout.
: "Please. No. I don't have any idea what a missile is, but shooting things at it is not the way to go about it. I'd like you to travel through me and gently push it out, if you could."

The tree opens its mouth up wide, and you see that it looks much larger on the inside than it does on the outside. It's a veritable dungeon in there!

"Well, I will try to help you. Come on, lets go, Yukari!"

Samus slowly walks into the living tree's mouth, with her Arm Cannon ready to fire at any threat. She is absolutely baffled as to how a dungeon could fit into a tree of this size, but she contains her confusion as she walks in.

Called it. These things usually end in dungeons of some kind... right, pick this up, and follow in.

Pick up the meteor shard, shove it into Yukari's pocket, and follow into the Tree.
thx to e r i k for layout
