SMWCX Discussion Thread

This brings up a good question...is there a postgame? There seems to be none on the list.
I don't think we should consider a postgame when we're having trouble getting the main levels done.

Also, @LunaLua: considering it. I've never really tried it, so if you could help me set it up that would be fine ^^'

Well I'd consider a level somewhere regardless.

When I release the final MaGL X2 Devkit I can give you a copy. It'll have the latest LunaLua support and stuff.
So, when can we expect this to be finally finished? It would probably be for the best to just scrap the "open" and "in progress" slots and leave some worlds with only 5 levels. After all, the four levels that are "in progress" have been "in progress" for months with no sign of actual progress...
I don't think we should do that. It would shut out users who are still making levels.

And besides, I got a PM recently about my Pikmin Forest level and about how it hasn't been updated in months. I said that it WILL be complete by June 30, whether I'm actually done with it or not.

So, is this still somewhat active? I only found out about this recently and would love to contribute a level!

As for some introduction on my part, I'm Spinda, previously known as Nickname. I'm a Game Master and Level Judge on supermariobrosx.org and have only been in the community for roughly a year. I hope to contribute a bit on here as well.
Yes! We're mostly focusing on the hub for now (Blue Leaf is working on it), but there are a few levels open at the moment. Feel free to claim any of them, any help is welcome!

By the way, noting we might have a deadline up at some point. There isn't a lot that needs to be done so we're trying to actualluy get this done soon, even if we might have less levels than originally expected.
So do you guys still need stuff? I have some new non lunadll things i can put here thats much better than the garbage i made before

If nothing else they can be some nice postgame content.

We still have some room for some levels. Especially in the postgame.
I'm currently working on the hub, and I hope to have something to show soon. But the hub can always be expanded if we get more levels (Although some worlds are easier to expand than others, but the postgame and world 7 aren't really a problem).
Can us level makers recommend pictures and such to be placed near our levels in the hub? If you've played other hub-based SMBX games, you'll probably know what I mean.

For example, for my Pikmin Forest level, I'd want the level entrance in the hub to look something like this. Us level makers can send you the required files.

(The sign says, "Pikmin Forest by DPBOX")
(Ignore the background and floor tiles. It's just the scenery we're concerned about here.)

The thing is, Pikmin Forest hasn't been accepted yet, and Eternity hasn't gotten back to me yet, and it's been about 2 months since I submitted the level a second time. (The first time I submitted the level, Eternity got back to me really quickly.)

Actually, we're making something similar to your idea! If you played some SMBX episodes (like The Invasion 2, Super Mario Star Expedition, ...), you probably saw the portraits above the level entrances. I'm making the same thing right now - making the portraits for each SMWCX level.
But shouldn't we leave the portrait making to the level makers? We should give the level makers their freedom. It's THEIR level, not yours. The level makers should decide for themselves what they want their level pictures to look like. We should tell every person who made a level to make his or her hub scenery like what I just did, and the level's maker should only let someone else make the pictures on the level's maker's behalf if the person making the pictures gets permission from the level's maker.

1) Lots of level makers are inactive.
2) Some people might be better at representing a level than others. We usually want to keep quality of such things as this consistent rather than random.
3) Who cares if it's their level, why can't someone else make a tiny image that represents it? What makes it so offensive?
ANother important thing is that not everyone can make pixel art. Anyway I don't make these portraits alone, Blue Leaf is helping me to keep their quality as good as possible. So if he doesn't like one or another portrait, I make it better.

So you want the game to never be finished, then?

It's SMWC's game, not the level maker's. The project organizers are taking the initiative here by doing actual work instead of delaying the game further by being overly cautious.
Very very very shortly, this drab, workaday world and everything in it will be changed forever! Follow us into the golden country, into the empire of the senseless!
Is Blue Leaf moderating levels now? Apparently, Blue Leaf moderated and accepted this level, not Eternity. Am I supposed to submit and PM my levels to Blue Leaf, now?

He's a part of Quality Control team, so he can approve levels too.
Is it possible to give Blue Leaf moderator power for this specific sub-forum so that he/she can update the level list as he/she accepts levels? It's bugging me that h2643's levels have been unorganized for months despite there being two open slots and three "incomplete" slots that represent levels which may or may not exist.

There is another level list here. It should be up-to-date, and I'm using it for the hub.

Thanks; that makes me feel better. One question, though: what do the single slashes beside 1-3 and 3-2 mean? Those levels are listed as accepted in Eternity's list, but apparently don't count toward the total for your list.

Also, Fortress of Au is listed as incomplete on the list, but complete in the thread. Am I missing something?
