[ACCEPTED] 4-5: Amphibious Species (Demo is available)

Hi, this is my level for 4-5. It's an auto-scroller level that features enemies that are originally underwater beings (for the most part), now being used in cold air. You will be dodging these on platforms, though the water is too cold for you to swim in.

At the time of this thread's creation, the first half is already done. The second half will be done very soon.
I like the classic feel this level gives. However, the white background is just bland. Maybe a sunset or a blue sky. One question, will the enemies that usually float underwater float above ground too?

They won't float the exact the same way, but they still function the same.

Anyways, the level is done. Here is the link for it (BPS).

Things to note before feedback: The level is intentionally short to compensate for the difficulty.
Really, really nice. Since you don't use the urchins in the first half of the level you should probably use ExGFX8E in SP4 but overall it's a pretty entertaining level to play.
Just finished the level. Thought the design was pretty good, but there were a couple of minor things.

The lava particle tile things aren't the right color so if, say, a mushroom falls in, the tiles that come out are orange. That should be easy enough to fix.

I had an issue where if I jumped on one of the brown platforms 2 or 3 times, I would sink down far enough to hit the lava. Maybe this was intentional, but it resulted in me dying in situations where I felt I should have been safe. I believe I've seen other hackers work around this issue by placing multiple copies of the platform sprite, although this produces a strange visual effect.

The invisible mushroom in the second half that you're supposed to get when you first encounter urchins only spawned for me less than half the time. I know it's a block, so it's not a sprite limitation issue. Maybe play around with the positioning of the block to make it easier to trigger.

Length was great for what it was, I thought. It's a tough level (and it's the last world, so it should be), and having it be a shorter level helps ease any frustrations players may have. It gets right to things and doesn't overstay its welcome.

Urchins are used in the first half of the level. What does that graphic file do?

This is caused by being Big Mario when landing on the platforms, which creates more pressures since it is buoyancy logic. If there was a way to fix this via ASM, it would be really appreciate. Using two platforms overlapping each other would be a problem because of slowdown.

Yes it is a cause of the positioning of the sprite. You probably jumped over it:

I will try messing around with it.

Anyways, thanks both of you for the feedback. More is always appreciated.
This level was really cool. I found this to be a creative and fun gimmick, and the difficulty of the level is really tough, yet justified with the length. I rally have no big issues with the level and, aside from the already mentioned things (weird lava splash GFX) I see no other things, maybe the Porcu-Puffer fish palette.

Accepting yet leaving this open for further feedback or the small issues fixes.

ninja: ExGFX8E has the "lava dolphins" I guess they're dolphins with the correct splash GFX.

Oh, I didn't catch any. 8E replaces one frame of the urchin graphics with the proper lava splash tiles but since you used urchins in the first half I guess this point is moot

Yeah lolyoshi I like this level and I think Erik will be very proud of you.
Who is your favourite player?

Bar from the useless post by Forth, I will go ahead and accept the level. Good feedback and I also liked it so it wouldn't be fair to not accept it.

Will leave the thread open, though.

e: oh yeah, please send me the files :P
The files will be sent soon.
