What do you collect?

Link Thread Closed
So I'm going to start my own collection, the problem is I don't know anything interesting to collect. If you have a collection, do you know some interesting things to start a collection of?
I have a small rock and mineral collection. Some highlights include several large pieces of diatomite (it resembles chalk, but never call it chalk!) from central Oregon; some shale containing Metasequoia fossils; Tiger obsidian from Mexico; several varieties of quartz (a mineral with no cleavage.)

I've got a decent sized collection of Mario and Pokémon plushes that's grown quite a bit over the past two years. Most I've obtained from the Nintendo World Store but a few I've purchased online. They're fun to collect and decorate my apartment with. When it comes to Pokémon, I prefer collecting ones from later generations as I feel they're less mainstream.
Right now, I don't really collect anything. I guess I have two rare coins with me, but that's really it. Besides, nobody wants to hear my two cents. Hah, get it? That's a pun.

Y'know, I always wanted those Mario plushies. They're not rare to find here, it's just rare to find good ones that actually are worth the money. Maybe one day in the future I'll find one.
I used to collect Pokemon cards but I lost them.

Some tips for any collection (even though they're probably obvious):
- Be sure to have a nice, clean, preferably soft-ish place to store your pieces. This is especially important with tech products, as dust can ruin their operation. Plus you obviously wouldn't want scratches, dirt or other forms of contamination on them, as this will deplete their value.
- Don't rely solely on eBay and online stores/auctions/retailers to buy new pieces. Most people online do research on their pieces and know their value, so they will most likely overcharge you. Also, it's harder to tell from a few pictures online if the product is genuine or not. Instead, look around for yard sales and flea markets near you, where vendors may not know their value and are just looking to get rid of them.
- Most importantly, be patient. Take the time to look around and get the best price that you possibly can. I once spent $20 for an item that, a few months later, I had the opportunity to get for $3. Saves a lot of money in the long run for other pieces.

This comes from about 6 years of collecting retro/classic video games, consoles, cartridges, controllers, and accessories. I've been disappointed a number of times about spending way more than I needed to on certain things because I was excited to get them. I've managed to build up a pretty good sized collection of Nintendo games, which are pretty durable and easy to find for the most part, and I've managed to not damage any of them in any way. If you have the interest, I'd say go for the classic games.
Simple word: LEGO

Why? Because you're never too old for them~
I'd have to say amiibo. Originally I only got amiibos of characters I like and didn't even have any real interest in their functionality, but with all the "limited" amiibos Nintendo poured out - and with pretty much all of their new games getting amiibo support - I eventually couldn't resist anymore and started building quite a collection. Now I have almost 20 amiibos, with a lot more pre-ordered already. I'm still only getting characters I at least somewhat like, but I'm eassily hooked by now.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
Amiibo's. >.< I gave in to them. I have about 12 so far with the three classic characters (Duck Hunt R.O.B and Mr.G+W) all pre-ordered.
Well, I also had a pretty decently sized pokemon card collection, but I gave them to my little brothers since I didn't really use them that much anyway. When I was younger I also had a small mineral collection.

Now I don't really collect anything anymore, but I do have about 130 manga that I haven't touched in months if that counts.

I currently collect Transformers, mainly the Autobots, and I have them on display on my shelves. I even have two different versions of Optimus Prime #ab{:)}

Which one?

Also, I don't really collect anything. I have over 250 games on Steam, so maybe that qualifies as a collection, though.

Just like everyone else. Currently got Mr. Game and Watch pre-ordered (it's not part of a 3-pack over here in the UK).

Video games. I've got an ok amount so far.
Generally, anything involving video games. Video games, of course is one of those things. Also, video game plushes, figures, etc. I've got a lot of those...
Cards (especially Pokemon, like a lot of you) and comic books, not related to Nintendo in any way. I also collect antique glass bottles too.
