Well, I'm really pleased by this. I highly support gay marriage and I'm glad this has finally happened.

Same-sex marriage has been legal here for as long as I can remember. It always seemed really silly to me how people would make a big fuss over what essentially comes down to who you're allowed to love.
Marriage also has a lot of tax benefits when you're considering things like living together.

But when will you ban guns?

I am alright with that but not really ecstatic. I may identify as a Christian but that doesn't mean I am in strict opposition. I heard about a preacher who threatened to set himself on fire if this ever happened.
More people can be happier this way.

Sometimes, there are things that happen in the world that give me a lot of hope. This is one of those things, and I'm extremely pleased with this decision. This is a good step towards a more equal United States!

They recognized that the Constitution prohibits states from saying "X group has the right to marry their legally consenting romantic partner, but Y is not allowed that same right", when the reasons are 100% arbitrary. They changed nothing about the Constitution. It's an evolution of interpretation.

And it's one I'm 101% behind.

Not really. The Supreme Court doesn't legislate, so they can't amend the Constitution. What happened is they ruled that bans of homosexual marriage are unconsitutional, specifically violating the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th amendment:

That's basically my point.

Given, the non discrimination clause would make same sex marriage BANS illegal, but since most States actually just have laws set up that don't provide for same sex marriage at all, instead of bans (isn't California the only one with an outright ban?), I guess it would actually just make all marriages in such places "illegitimate" to the government and such laws illegal. Which I'm cool with. But to extend that to "now every state must recognize same sex marriage", that's creating a law. Maybe they didn't say that, and people are just kinda stupid and saying that's what they said. I'm a busy guy, I didn't read the whole. If that's the case, ha.

To be clear, I "support" same sex marriage, on the grounds of "why the fuck would there be a law about that?", I just don't support 5 unelected old guys making laws.

I'm pretty much neutral with it. Gays are like normal people, except they like people of the same gender. I feel it won't go very much outside the US. Some countries still don't accept homosexual people, which is a shame. I live in a country where people are still stupid with delayed, old-fashioned culture, saying that gays are overly sick people. This is stupid, and not true at all.

Good that some people can be more happy. US have got some interesting ideas for a compromise.
