Sicari Remastered - Coming this C3 (for real this time!)

Standard

Today, I'm showing off the underwater portion of "Glistening Coast."

So as you may see this level is heavy on the HDMA. The background and foreground wave, whilst there is a blue effect over both layers. The bubbles will push the player downwards.

Please comment/give feedback :3
That swimming sprite looks cool!! And of course, the HDMA is badass!!

The fish are funny!! Thata afro, lol!!

The level seems a bit easy, though. I should expect it to be much harder further on?

Anyway, as always, excellent job. Keep it up!!

Nice work with the hdma stuff here. They sure make the level's atmosphere stronger.
That background is well drawn too, and the fish are funny.
I personally find the level fairly hard with those currents and these spikes.

Well, I like everything I see there, keep up the good work.
That background reminds me of the one I drew up for Boiler Room on "The Crater", only the rock formations though. The HDMA is very strong, yes. Not much to comment on LD, I never really have anything to say about vvater levels.
That beach level looks good, but I'm not sure if I like the tileset. It's well made, but the foreground looks a bit boring. It's a bit too generic, and lacks anything to make it more interesting. Some more variety on the decorations (specially inside-ground decoration) to spice it up a bit more would be great. The underwater section seems nice - I really like the background there, but I suggest making it a tad bit darker.

Keep up the good work!
Here is a trailer for the hack!

Expect it on the SMWC Youtube channel by tomorrow.
Good trailer, it reminds me K-16's a lot.
The content you shown in it is quite attractive and well chosen.
I'm getting even more hype now! #wario{:D}
And the trailer is now on youtube! :3

Check it out when you can.

This picture says it all.

Seriously, I never played the original, so I actually can't wait to try this.

Good work, as always!

^this. Also, too much water.
Being veeeeeery cautious around this one after I got burned on K-16.

(though seeing the spinjump kept around, gives me hope it won't be nearly as trollish)
@GeminiRage: No worries, Sicari's gameplay is much more towards that of a traditional hack. This is a long hack and thus it has a reasonable difficulty curve. That's a promise.

However, the plan is to implement K-16's abilities from Story of Steel for those who are up for a bit more of a challenge. Then again, the rather forgiving level design of Sicari might make it 50/50.

anyway, here's a smaller update before I get working on the intro of the hack. This is basically showing a few little adjustments I've made to the grassland tileset.

Basically the aim of this was to put some more variety in the tileset. As you can see, I have added:
-Standing flowers
-Tall grass
-Flowers in the dirt tiles (doesn't really make too much sense, but bah)
-The metal blocks now come in 2x1 as well, rather than just being stacked 1x1 blocks.

Anyway, I hope you like what I've done here. Please comment and blah blah.
Nice to see tons of consistency applied to such a super-creative hack. It's getting awesome, Eevee, great work.

On these 3 screenshots, I'd try to differ the colors of BG and FG just a bit, not only on the outlines.
I'm sure not having outlines on the tiles would make them look weird. Just saying since Mayo said something about them.

Anyway, nice update. The colors look good, and hearing of the difficulty was important. Make use rage Eevee, though!! ;)

Anyway, keep it up!!

hoeqwihfowigorgn new update ^w^
Introducing a new type of bonus level. "Anna's Adventures."

I've yet to decide how these bonus levels will be accessed, but the basic premise is that you play as the little witch Anna, where you have the opportunity to collect a whole bunch of sapphires. The plan is to have one of these levels per world, with each one being more difficult. Today, I'm showing off World 1's "Anna's Adventures" stage.

The levels are autoscrolling, so you will never be able to collect every coin. They are designed in a way that if everything is collected, you'll be able to get 3 - 4 lives at the most depending on how many sapphires you come in with. Anna also has very basic abilities. She can only run and jump. She can't wall jump, spin jump or even carry items.

As always, please comment and give feedback!
Wow, I wasn't excepting that at all!
I like hacks that feature several playable character, it gives more variety.
That bonus level seems quite challenging, I'm looking forward to play it. As of its appearance, I like the background, and that hdma gradient is lovely.
The only thing that tickles me is the clouds' red color, it's a bit too flashy for my tastes.

Other than that, excellent job so far! #w{=)}
Best part is you draw your own graphics. Whether or not they are good, hand-drawn graphics always add a unique personal touch to hacks. So yeah, nice work man.
