The 8th Annual VLDC: Hack release thread! [ZSNES USERS READ THE FIRST POST]

thank you for not reading the other posts where i openly talked about how the level was flawed in some degrees (specifically this one) and taking the 'scrub' thing seriously Eternity.
Yeah, it was super obvious the scrub thing wasn't serious. Good job, me. (hint: I wasn't the only one who "couldn't see it wasn't serious")

I'm not sure on why we are still discussing this. If you know why your level is where it is, just let the topic die.

This is a complaint/issue I haven't heard of from anyone else nor have I seen. Does the triangle in that area glitch? It shouldn't as far as I am aware of it. Though I have been talking with another person who pointed out to me that the triangle will have issues with 130 blocks (which the inner tiles of those land masses do consist of) in a similar way that running along slopes onto 130 blocks have an issue that causes Mario to lose all movement speed.

I ended up losing quite a few lives in that area, presumably because I approached the triangle at the wrong speed and it smashed Mario between two of the 130 tiles. I'm not sure that anyone else had this experience, but given that this didn't only happen once, I would imagine so.

It could also be a problem with my ROM/emulator setup, but I doubt it with a glitch this specific. Never know though.
I've become very grumpy these last few years, and have been biting my tongue here in SMWC's forums quite a bit. I just want to let you all know that if ever I come off as harsh, I still care about you all. You guys are great.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

When this will be released?

You're way behind on this, dude. The music (SPCs at least) were released a couple of weeks ago in the Contest subforum.

Pretty sure he's talking about the soundtrack's TXTs.

Then most likely C3 at the earliest.

Good point; me and MelodicCodes were basically done with our little argument, which good points were brought up by them. It began to die down and then MP came in with some bullshit assumption post, and out of obligation, i felt it necessary to put that down. Then you came in with some assumption bullshit post, and I felt the need to do the same.

It really was dying down, the argument was doing fine and was playing its course between the two main parties involved (ktb did contribute to the conversation).

"being unable to walk like a human being got you placed low" "hey i'll have you know i usually get 20 places higher in other contests"

?????

Also I only posted because the argument didn't seem "complete" and must not have noticed that it actually was, sorry.
No. My post was simply showing that his "bullshit assumption" was absolutely right. None of those were bullshit assumptions, so there was no need for you to shit on the thread again. Now drop it.
What's the song called in Trunk Trouble? (a good level BTW)

It's a custom music made by Moose, specifically made for that level, if I recall correctly.

Any hints for this part of Cakewalk Cavern?

I'm only quoting this for the sake of the screenshot, but I suppose it's worth mentioning that the hud is not supposed to be changed like this, and I'm guessing it's due to one of the patches that was added afterward

considering it's probably only changeable by actually rearranging the palette within my level itself, and the fact that it's still totally legible anyway, I'm not really asking for it to be fixed

I'm just pointing out that I did not choose those colors on purpose

I understand that you want to keep the levels exactly the way they are.

However, I used to have a secret exit in my level. My level was "Night of Fire" in the worst world.

The secret exit crashes badly if you try to go towards it.

Is there any reason for that? I don't see why this is happening.
Hey there! I played some levels of VLDC8 hack and they're great! Actually, I'm searching for secret exits. If I only find them...

What emulator are you using?

Yeah, that's correct. He did that for Izuna's level last year as well. The .txt and samples for it can be found in the .zip file that comes with the submission, although I think you should ask Moose/Izuna first if you want to use it.

So I asked all users to inform me if their level had a secret exit when they submitted their level. I looked through our PM conversation, as well as your post in the submissions thread, and saw no mention of it. Therefore, I assumed there was not one and set it as one exit. Not only that, myself and the other testers did not test it with the consideration that it even had two exits.

Regardless, I just ran through the level and tested where the secret exit is supposed to be (the Yoshi wings route), and it works fine. I didn't get any sort of crash - I ended up going to the little sky bonus room, and then exiting to the map at the end of that. How exactly does it crash for you?
