Steven Universe

How come there isn't a thread for this already? This show already got insanely popular since the first season finale.

As Steven tries to figure out the secrets of his gem, he spends his days in Beach City doing activities with the other Crystal Gems, whether it's helping them save the universe or just hanging out.

This show might seem a little silly or slow at first, but trust me, it gets much better. I love it, and I'll try to explain why. You see, this show actually manages to deal with serious themes and lightweight at the same time, and it doesn't feel forced unlike other shows (I'm looking at YOU, Adventure Time). It also got a quite interesting lore, likeable characters and it can really tug your heartstrings, I mean, one episode actually made me cry (
because I could personally relate to that scene, something similar happened to me
). It's the first time a cartoon makes me cry since forever. It might be the best CN show since Regular Show, and it's really worth a try. Just don't expect that much "action". There is action, but this show is more about subtleity and details, it might bore you but if you're like me, you'll love it. Again, this cartoon can deal with really serious and even depressing themes, and yet it does in a pretty lightweight but nonetheless effective way.

i just lurk sometimes
(its not as if I don't talk about this show every day on IRC or anything)

Its alright....

....alright....
I haven't got around to watching it, although I see it on Tumblr a lot (like......a lot).

Aside from that all I know is that they referenced Evangelion.

This show is pretty great, and I'm not one to watch much television. The quality (that is, lack of reliance on dumb jokes) is pretty high, the characters are likable, and the fandom is uniquely pleasant.

Count me in as an SU fan.

Love the show, the character development is so great.

Uncle Granpda and SU crossover is going to be terrible....

Yeah, we wouldn't want a lame show like steven universe ruining a comedic masterpiece like Uncle Grandpa.
it's okay 4/10

I actually watch this one, except for something:
Don't like its cancerous fanbase, though.

Really? What's the issues with the fanbase? From all I have seen fo it they seem pretty calm and level headed. (Then again I haven't ventured that deep into the fan base...)

Every fanbase is cancerous if you only pay attention to the creepier side that writes erotic fan fiction and draws creepy fetish pictures.
I've found the opposite - places like /r/stevenuniverse are the inverse of cancerous. Maybe tumblr's up there in badness, but the subreddit is among one of my favorite fan communities.

So, if we enjoy judging books by their cover episodes by their title, the next couple could be pretty interesting.

"Reformed" has Steven, Garnet, and Amethyst chasing after a gem monster loose in the temple.

"Rising Tides/Falling Skies" so far seems to be about Ronaldo but if the episode titles mean anything at all, we could see Malachite in this one.

Reformed airs Thursday, and no one's sure when the latter will air, but I'm betting on next Thursday as the last episode before a hiatus.

These are apparently two separate episodes going off of Tvtropes
They were, per Zap2It and Wikipedia for a while, but an SU storyboard artist stated on Tumblr that the pair is actually only one episode.

Reformed has aired. Still no ETA on any other episodes, though, so either a) the Uncle Grandpa week next week will delay new episodes by a fortnight or b) a hiatus is coming.

Anyway,
I liked the episode, but I felt it was a bit... meh. Gem regeneration has been confounded a bit, as we've seen Amethyst regenerate three times in about ten minutes, as composed to Pearl's one regeneration in 20,160 minutes. The episode raised a lot more questions about gem regeneration and a gem's physical form than it answered, and also how it fits into shape-shifting. Also, I'm not 100% on Amethyst's new design, it looks a bit too simple in comparison to the others, but that's a little thing.

Cartoon Network's band of monkeys and hyenas on computers strike again!

I bet they're replacing it with reruns of Teen Titans Go and Gumball.

(I'm just saying what's on your minds, I haven't actually watched this show)
