How about a restart?

I was playing through the base rom when I realised that this hack is rather dated. As evidenced by the recent VLDCs the standards have become higher. Also, completely chocolate hacks like this no longer have the same "woah!" factor as few years ago (I know this because I was lurking for a long long time) – vanilla/"choconilla" hacks seem to be more popular again.

So I have a suggestion – how about getting rid of all the less than stellar levels and buggy blocks/sprites/ASM? The graphics and music are getting revamped – why not everything? People would become interested in the project again and more progress would be done, not to mention the quality would increase. It just needs to be more controlled – for example one can't use any resource outside of the base rom for the redone levels.
There aren't any less than stellar levels in the ROM, there was quality assurance for a reason.
Any bugginess in blocks and sprites you might encounter in the baserom are going to be fixed.

Crocodillan Crossing and Ice-Floe Inferno come to mind. Also, a lot of levels have backgrounds tiles that are really easy to be confused with the foreground.

And at the current pace the bugginess in blocks and sprites seems never going to be fixed. (Correct me if I'm wrong as I was on #smwcp only once.)
Er, just because they've been buggy for a long time doesn't mean they won't be fixed. AFAIK they're just not a priority right now given all the other things being worked on.

...Actually, unless it's extremely major, I don't think bugs in general are really a priority at all since bug testing hasn't "officially" started yet.

The only things that seem to be priorities are creating the final boss and composing the credits theme. Do we have to wait for the final boss to be inserted for the bug testing phase to start? And why did the progress on him suddenly stop?
It didn't "stop", it was finished.

And other than the credits theme is the new graphics Magi is making and some remastered songs some people are making to replace some of them.

Oh, I see.

That means there's no reason for bug testing phase not to start now.

Yoshi wings.

That's basically the last thing left to fix to my memory, unless that was fixed at some point when I wasn't on IRC.
If the bug testing phase was possible to start already, we would've.
I dunno what makes you think they're trying to make no progress on purpose.

Very very very shortly, this drab, workaday world and everything in it will be changed forever! Follow us into the golden country, into the empire of the senseless!
Just, before the bug testing, change the levels' name. I mean really, was Hiker's Hollow (HH), Countdown Chamber (CC), or Beach Ball Brawl (BBB) intentional? Or it was a coincidence?
You mean like Plateau Pumps, or Togepuku Tussle?

All of us used alliteration, rhymes, or the like in our names... Unless you mean those acronyms specifically.
A restart is not needed; that being said, SMWCPII has been in development for 4 years now, which being a collaborative hack is very sad. I finish full blown chocolate hacks that use up more space than all the resources in SMWCPII currently faster than this hack was started and necessarily completed.

A restart is not required, but progress DOES need to be made; fortunately there's not a lot that's left to do, but unfortunately, it's all ASM.

I don't mind collaborative hacks, but the next one this site starts on does not need to be ASM Ambitious like this one was; ASM is neat and all, but it really holds up some things.

Honestly, I cringe every time I look at this forum or hear the words "SMWCP" because it's a reminder of the huge elephant that's sitting in the rooms of everybody who was involved. This thing should've been finished already, despite people having real lives or not; more than enough time has passed: No excuses, it's just the people that need to do stuff to give this project the final push either:

- Lost interest in the project
- Do not want to do it

It is simple as that.
No.

No, no, no, no, no. This is horribly wrong. Everything people could do to help is done. Lui37 is working on the remaining bugs and other problems, Torchkas is working on the credits music and, quite frankly, nothing is left to be done by the community. It's Lui and Torchkas at this point.

Oh and Kipernal but he finished the cutscenes 50 trillion millennia ago and just needs to appear out of nowhere again.

It's as simple as that.

Aaahhh... So that was intentional. Good to know, good to know.
The rhymes, alliterations and related were completely intended; I think they wanted a DKC Vibe with the naming.

It is simple as that. #tb{TwT}
i think it's just because alliteration is the easiest way to come up with level names.

(i prefer lolsorandum names with maybe a vague connection to the level)
Nope, alliteration was actually enforced.

Which is a goood thing. I love me some alliterations! I don't know what I would do in my love without my alliterations.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
I think some of the rhyming of the names could be better. For instance Star Wars rhymes and doesn't start both words with S's as the first letter. It seems as if a lot of the levels just seemed to start their level names with a first letter in common, but this may not be the best way to rhyme.
