Shining Stars 2: Mirror Madness (Major ROM Hack)(Progress Thread) RELEASE

First to download :)

Edit: Found a crash in Course 1, on the metal block that has a fading warp on it. When it warp you, after this there is immediatly another warp that crashes the game.

Looks great. I only liked course 4 since town levels are likely explorable.

However, one thing I frequently don't like to see in a hack is there some invisible secret star in a pointless yet obvious spot like the last act of course 4.

Also, you should fix the last stars on course 5, the red coin star acts as star 1, and then add a shell for star 4, it doesn't appear for some reason.

This looks really good, I'll be honest and give my ratings-
The level design and the hack is planned really well, it's really fun to play, but the aesthetics is really not the best (lacking beauty,  cutoff, not much eye candies, e.t.c) It could really use some work, taking my eyes off that, I really like what you've done,  hoping to see this finished!
Hey! Thought I'd leave some feedback.

Course 1 - I really like this course! It's compact, colorful, and it's pretty fun to play. I'd say maybe shrink the walkway with Chuckyas on it a little - it's kind of big.

Course 2 - Waaaay too big. Like, huge. It doesn't really need to be THAT big and empty. I like the concepts and it's a fun course otherwise, but it could really use some de-sizing.

Course 3 - Again, way too huge. I give this one props for being somewhat difficult, but the [huge] size of the platforms makes it way less difficult and quite a bit slower. I'm not experienced in hacking, but... it's just too damn big. Honestly.

Course 4 - I like this one! It took me forever to find out how to do anything, but once I did... I really enjoyed it! It's a little big, yes, but it's excusable because the rooftop areas aren't as expansive (and are tricky to navigate [in a good way[).

Course 5 - Yeah, this one's kinda fucked. As mentioned earlier, the red coin star and the Wiggler star are the same star for some weird reason, and there doesn't appear to be a shell anywhere for Star 4 (or I'm stupid, idk). Oh, and one of the boxes in Star 2 sets Mario on fire about 60% of the time. It's a bit irritating, to be honest. Not to mention that, like Course 2 and Course 3, everything's just too damn big.

It's heaps of fun to explore the courses and get the 100-coin stars, by the way. You did excellent with that. If you fix the known errors with Course 5 and shrink everything a little bit / make everything less empty, the hack will be just that much greater. All in all, it's a very good demo!

Oh, and if you're wondering where the Bowser feedback is - I haven't tried it yet. :|

I'm hyped to play your game. My only concern is that you'll release the game a little too early and it won't be quite as polished as it could be. Otherwise, your design has obviously improved and I know it'll be a really solid hack. Thank you for using the Sammer's Kingdom music. That one and the Mario RPG woods song are probably my favorite Mario tunes.
Oh boy, I liked the idea of revamping the levels and change the theme for a mirror feeling -- thanks to StarRevenge X.5 idea references.

The slide reminded me of my scrapped SMW slide level with floating ? boxes (I don't have it anymore) and of my current bonus slide.

So far loving your demo, just got around to playing it (super busy lately)

so far just a few nit picks:

All of these are with course 3.
it is way overly difficult in some small areas for a third course.
During the last mission, when you are coming to the last segment where you need to do the wall jump up the lava waterfall is very difficult. Not hitting the lava takes many tries, and usually results in making it up to the last platform with very little health which leads into the next issue.
The last triple jump is very precise to make, you should raise the platform your on the slightest bit, or lower the one your jumping too. Plus failing the jump lands you in lava most of the time, and you usually only have a small amount of health left, so you end up dying and redoing the whole painful lava waterfall segment again.
The last nit pick: the course forces you to take too many hits. You need to jump into the lava for a lot of red coins and the fake stars, which I personally do not like. You should add some small platforms and just make them tricky to get too, instead of outright forcing the player to lose 3 health every time.

Oh and the fry the followers star name is really unclear, I had no idea there was a giant bully at the top to kill.

I actually decided to remodel course 3, it is completely new :D
