The Current Situation with SMWCP2

Its been a little over 2 years now since the project was handed to me by SNN. In the amount of time, albeit slow, we got a good portion of it done. It is now to the point where everything that needs to be in the rom, is now in the rom. But as expected, the large amount of custom stuff inserted into it is causing just as much problems, if not more. I planned on having the beta testing phase started at this point, however, with the amount of issues that are still plaguing the rom, handing it out at this point would be stupid.

This is where the next biggest problem come into play; Me.

I want to have the collab done probably more than anyone else. I've worked hours, days, weeks and months on cleaning things up, getting on people to finish their projects, etc. But there is only so much I can do. One of my biggest downfalls is lack of ASM knowledge, and at this point in time, this project needs someone with that experience. So with a heavy heart, I have no choice but to give up my position as project leader.

In my place, Lui37 has agreed to take it from here on out. He is well suited for the position and has plenty of ASM knowledge to go around. I have have more than enough confidence that he will be able to push this to its completion.

I want to thank you all for all the support and help you have given me the past few years on this collab and I hope you will all give Lui37 the same, if not more. I will still be around to offer any assistance I am capable of, so I'm not leaving this completely, I'm just taking a step back.

R.I.P. Lui37
2015 - ????
It's a shame, I was mostly lurking around, silently keeping track of the progress.
But there is nothing one can do about it in the current situation but to entrust Lui37 with the rest.
If you say he's qualified, then he most likely will pull off a good job here, so I personally will remain positive about current matters.
Lightvayne, thank you for all you have done for this project. I haven't been involved with it since I dropped my level back when it started, and I haven't kept up with it much until lately, but you seem very dedicated to it. I understand your decision here and agree that Lui will do a fine job getting things done. Without your hard work, though, I doubt the project would be anywhere near where it is today.
Can't say I didn't see this coming, given the recent talks we've had. It's frustrating to lead this, and I commend you for holding on much longer than most people would have.

Let's hope a third and final person will be enough to push this through to the end.
Where is the man of the hour with a speech. I don't do IRC.
4 MORE YEARS! 4 MORE YEARS!

But yeah sorry to see your stepping down lightvayne, but hopefully this is the final push this project needs to get done.

I hope it doesn't get cancelled, because the hack is almost finished, I see it finished in April. Just need to hang on for a month or two.

Wow... I really thought that Lightvayne would actually finish this project. Well, I wish you luck Lui37.
Not to be impatient, but have we actually heard of Lui37 ever since this thread got released? I would've expected Lui37 to say something about the project by now (maybe a "Todo List", an announcement of some kind, a post regarding his status, or even replying to one of the question threads that got released recently).

I don't follow the IRC, so I don't know what he said there, but I still expected some sort of post in the forums from him.

IIRC he's working on the Yoshi wings bug.
Right now, I'm working on sorting things out in the base rom. I'm also indeed looking into bugs such as the one MercuryPenny mentioned. Once I get a good chunk of things fixed I will post an update in the base rom thread.
I also plan to play through the game to verify some bugs/find more/make sure I didn't add more bugs.
Sorry I haven't really followed this project too closely since mid-2013 but is it right to assume all that left is just bugfixes? Are we at the point now where we should create promotional material to accompany the mod with it's release? (or is this ongoing already?)
As far as I know, Torchkas still isn't done with the credits theme and apparently now everyone wants to redo a bunch of the songs or something because I guess they're not good enough or whatever.

But yeah, after those two things are done then bug testing should "officially" begin, unless I'm forgetting something >_>

No-one cares about that anymore because they get what they want and ignore it immediately afterwards.

But yeah, pretty much what he said.
Is it correct to assume then that all aesthetics apart from the soundtrack is final now (apart from minor alterations)? If so, maybe it's a good time to gather a few screenshots that could be used to show off the game and potentially create hype for when we have a solid deadline.

It's probably much easier and time saving to do so now then to leave it all to last minute when the game is almost complete.
...Actually, I think I do recall Magi or someone saying they wanted to enhance the graphics or something like that. Not sure where that went though, I don't think he ever got around to it yet, if he was ever actually going to do it at all.

I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

One level also needs to be addressed on a technical level (Musical Mechanisms), but its author (Kipernal) is pretty much unreliable at this point.

That's already fixed for the next base (the music had the command that makes the whole thing work commented out..). Also expect it soon once I sort out some things, both smwcp2 related and not (especially not..).

On the topic of promotonial content, I think someone already made some trailers in the past, but maybe they were already published (on c3 or something).

He's been at it for a while and still working at it.
